Ahh, got it. And I was looking at daily numbers per 110k, I think. |
NP It is ludicrous to think most people strongly identify as D or R. Most want something in the middle who can be reasonable/practical. It is good to see the Ds finally putting pressure on the progressives to stop with unrealistic policies. Maybe something sound can be done to address the problems you named. |
My HS DC came home today saying his teacher asked for the classes support in continuing to wear masks.
Don’t really appreciate the teacher pushing her opinion/beliefs on my DC. Feels a little bit like she’s pushing her political beliefs on my DC. The law is the law and feel like teachers should just be silent on the subject. My DC is there for an education not her opinion on masking. PS - DC will probably keep wearing a mask after March 1. |
Did your friend Tucker give you that hint. |
This! |
I don’t think wearing masks is a political belief. I see it more as a hygienic measure. |
It sure has become a political belief - Dems vs Republicans. I don’t need teachers pushing anything on a subject that the state govt has clearly said is a personal choice and parent choice. |
Yes I’m a teacher and want to unmask and I’m starting to realize we might not be allowed to. Any more insight on that? |
100% political, rest of the world is getting rid of mandates, kids in other states or just different school districts a few miles away don’t need to wear masks and FCPS acts like you will commit a grave sin if you send your kid to school without a mask. There will be massive lawsuits in a few years, after they finally admit that the of masking kids for 8+ hours a day was harmful. Might sound crazy right now, but it will happen. |
Right, teachers and democrats = pro mask = bad What a simple thinker you are - no wonder you are so easily manipulated into outrage over petty issues |
I doubt it. More likely, we will have a generation of adults with severe cardiac issues. https://www.science.org/content/article/covid-19-takes-serious-toll-heart-health-full-year-after-recovery The rabble rousers will then pretend they were pro mask all along or deceived by the CDC. |
This was already discussed in Health & Medicine. Of course when a whole lot of people get sick at once you see a lot more post-viral illness, but many, many viruses (including airborne) can lead to cardiac issues and other post-viral syndromes. Everyone who deals with these deserves care, but are you masking in schools forever now? Especially given the low effectiveness of mask mandates? Up the ventilation (FCPS has already done this), make vaccines crazy easy to get, care for people who are sick, do the sustainable and meaningful things. |
Yes - this is what I believe to be the truth. |
No need for personal attacks. Teachers can be democrats or republicans or pro mask or anti mask. They can believe whatever they want to believe. Frankly I don’t care. I just want them to teach my child the subject matter they were hired to teach. Outside of that, I don’t need them inserting their opinions and beliefs in my child’s school day. The state law says they don’t get to influence or chose what my child does with masks come March 1. It’s similar to the Hatch Act for federal employees, they should not engage in expressing views on political topics on federal property. |
Hey Insensitive Poster: - maybe the teacher lives with a medically vulnerable person - maybe the teacher has a medical condition that puts them at higher risk if they contract COVID - maybe there is one or more kiddos in this teacher’s with a medical condition that puts them at risk if they contract COVID - maybe the teacher was trying to teach your kid to think of others |
