My HS DC came home today saying his teacher asked for the classes support in continuing to wear masks. Don’t really appreciate the teacher pushing her opinion/beliefs on my DC. Feels a little bit like she’s pushing her political beliefs on my DC. The law is the law and feel like teachers should just be silent on the subject. My DC is there for an education not her opinion on masking. PS - DC will probably keep wearing a mask after March 1.
I don’t think wearing masks is a political belief. I see it more as a hygienic measure.
It sure has become a political belief - Dems vs Republicans. I don’t need teachers pushing anything on a subject that the state govt has clearly said is a personal choice and parent choice.
100% political, rest of the world is getting rid of mandates, kids in other states or just different school districts a few miles away don’t need to wear masks and FCPS acts like you will commit a grave sin if you send your kid to school without a mask. There will be massive lawsuits in a few years, after they finally admit that the of masking kids for 8+ hours a day was harmful. Might sound crazy right now, but it will happen.
I doubt it. More likely, we will have a generation of adults with severe cardiac issues. https://www.science.org/content/article/covid-19-takes-serious-toll-heart-health-full-year-after-recovery The rabble rousers will then pretend they were pro mask all along or deceived by the CDC.
This was already discussed in Health & Medicine. Of course when a whole lot of people get sick at once you see a lot more post-viral illness, but many, many viruses (including airborne) can lead to cardiac issues and other post-viral syndromes. Everyone who deals with these deserves care, but are you masking in schools forever now? Especially given the low effectiveness of mask mandates? Up the ventilation (FCPS has already done this), make vaccines crazy easy to get, care for people who are sick, do the sustainable and meaningful things.
