5-11 Vaccine appointments thread

I got the link to book, but when I put in my kid's name and click verify it just tells me that no appointments are available. I figure I'll try again in a day or two. At the clinic today, they told me I wouldn't get the link for a few days so I wonder if the system is buggy.

I had the same experience. We got our first shot today and I received an email a few hours later so I tried to schedule the second shots. For one child it said registration cannot be found and for the other child it just said there were no appointments. I’ll try again in a day or so.

Same here. So not just us!

Anyone vaccinated at the MoCo clinics today? How do you set up dose 2 for your kids?

We did one of the MD clinics today- they were not super helpful and just said to schedule for three weeks out; no information on how to do it.

I had an appt for my kids today at a pediatric clinic in Wheaton, but when I got there was told they didn't have the vaccine yet. (But the website shows they do and allowed appts for kids 5-11. INFURIATING!!!) And of course all of the county clinics are booked solid and nothing is available through other providers for ten days or so.

But I booked appts for next weekend at Tyson's, so thx for the tip!! (And I'll keep looking for something closer and sooner.)

We were told at Tysons that it was for Virginia residents only.

Well at the Alexandria clinic at NOVA on Thursday it was nothing but Arlington residents and it was clear people were bringing other people’s kids in addition to their own. Was hard to get really upset about because everyone has been waiting SO long to get the shots for under 12 but they weren’t even trying to be discrete (including several kids from an Arlington bball team, wearing their jerseys so they were either coming from or going to practice. I’m talking one adult with 6 kids, another with 8 and another with 5. Gotta love that hustle. This was the clinic that was added very last minute and you did have to have an appointment.

I don’t see any issue with this. You didn’t have to be an Alexandria resident. I live in Fairfax and almost went since there were plenty of open appointments but decided I didn’t want to drive there. It’s easy to get an appointment close to home now and we went to a local CVS instead.

We’re from MD and went there too. Great experience, including scheduling the next shot. So relieved my immunocompromised DC has started the process. VA has done a fantastic job with the rollout, plenty of open spots through VAMS. MD’s rollout has been bumpy comparatively.

FYI, MoCo has daily clinics this week for 5-11 and right now there are lots of openings. I just got appts for my two kids for this evening.

Go here and click on the "county run clinic" button:

Can you use these clinics if you are not a resident of Montgomery County/Maryland?

Anyone in DC successfully book a shot? The clinics look to have loooong lines before they open so the odds of getting one are slim.

Just go to VA- their DOH site is easy to navigate and has tons of slots. Don’t bother waiting in line at a clinic.

Please stay out of our state, communists. If you can't get your own house in order please don't mooch off the taxpaying citizens of Virginia

The vaccines are federally funded; not seeing the outrage. As a NOVA resident, I gladly drove 2 hours south to gunshow-country to get my shots last spring. A vaccination is a vaccination!

Took our kids to a mass clinic at Arlington Community Center. It was very well run and organized. Only waited about 20 min or so before receiving the shot. Made appointments for second dose on site.

Are they only booking these a day at a time? We couldn’t have gone today anyway but it’s all booked up now and I don’t see any for the rest of the week.

No, not running out. Will let all the eager beavers waste their time. There will be a surplus in a months time and over half the country or more I are not vaxxing their young children at all.

There is plenty now. Everyone I know who wants to vaccinate their children was able to secure a spot this week. It was maybe tricky for about 36 hours, and now you have plenty of options.

There is no reason to wait.
