As someone who just had a child home for a week of quarantine due to exposure at school, I want this disruption to our lives to end as soon as possible.

-Not OP.

You only care about yourself, not your child. Got it. Life still will not be back to "normal" but your life really hasn't changed except having your kid home for a week. It really sucks for your child to have to be with parents who cannot be bothered with them.

Not the PP, but I think the larger concern is the amount of school missed by said child being home for a week due to being a "close contact" with another child who tested positive while not actually testing positive themselves. Then there are those children who DO subsequently test positive. It's a mess; one that this approval will hopefully stave off eventually.

Without quarantine if a child is exposed and positive and asymptomatic we could very easily have outbreaks. The issue is schools should provide virtual to kids who are quarantined. But, that's a separate issue.

Yes, I care so little about my child because I want him to get the vaccine as soon as possible and to actually be in school.

They ARE in school. Its supposed to be safe for in person school and the risk according to DCUM is low so why do you need to get it the first day its released.

You just don’t seem to understand the issue here. A kid doesn’t have to quarantine (and be out of school) if they are a close contact of a kid that tests positive. Obviously the person does have their child in school.

No empathy as my kids have been home since this started and out of school due to selfish people like you bringing in covid to the schools.

Again, what the hell. The poster wants to vaccinate her child? So that makes her selfish and bringing covid into schools? Do you have zero reading comprehension?

Ignore that poster. She is always trolling these threads telling people concerned about quarantines that they hate their kids, that she is a better and more selfless mother for keeping hers virtual, and that our kids need the vaccine because we choose to endanger them (and hers) by sending them to school. She is a Covid hysterical self righteous troll.

We get it and it’s totally irresponsible of the schools which is why ours are not in person. These vaccines reduce symptoms as designed. They were not designed to stop Covid. Irresponsible behavior is why Covid continues.

I think the surprise will be how easy it is to vaccinate your under 12. I am not worried about getting a shot right away. There is a vaccine clinic planned at DDs school in two weeks and other DC schools throughout November. I think there will be a surplus. I know many parents are nervous about this and will wait until after the new year.

NP. Ah, the Royal We. What’s irresponsible of the schools? Not to quarantine vaccinated people? Are your kids ever going to be allowed to go to school again? You do know that experts agree that Covid will be endemic? And no, they don’t think it’s because people are sending their kids to school.

Oh my god you think no one should send their kid to school?! And that’s the RESPONSIBLE thing? Yeah wow. Covid ain’t going away, ever.

Thanks for letting me know. I couldn’t understand the logic there. I mean, there isn’t logic there, so I don’t feel bad.

Thanks to youits not. Complaining about your kids quarantine is silly as it’s necessary.

I am paying attention but I don't live in DC or MoCo. Although I am considering going to a DC site if I can't get an appointment near me this week.

Are you one of the people that is keeping their kid home in DC but isn’t homeschooling them and is refusing to disenroll them but doesn’t want CPS to come and check to make sure you aren’t engaging in child neglect?
