| I know 2 guys named Ariel. If you like it, use it. |
| Never |
| Come on, mom. Dont be selfish. Name your son a name that won’t get him teased. Do you really want him to have to defend his name? “But my mom LOVED it” |
My friend’s son legally changed it because he was bullied and teased about his name. It has turned into a girl name like Lauren and Kelley has. |
|
I would just do Ari. Sorry, OP.
|
| If I was Jewish and liked the name - I would. |
Oddly enough - Ariel and Ari are two separate names - not nicknames! Though I do think it could work as a NN in the US. |
+1 I know more male Ariels than female Ariels. |
| No, but only because I've only known one man with that name and he was a genuinely terrible person. |
No need to be so rude. It's a very popular Jewish name. She's asking and getting some really good answers. |
|
I think it’s great but I’m Jewish and send my kid to Day School. You could do Aryeh (lion) and do nn Ari.
If you aren’t Jewish I would skip Ariel and just use Ari. Good luck! |
|
I’m not Jewish and I’ve only know a couple guys named Ari and one Ariel. I think it’s a great name with a strong meaning and I like the alliteration. It fits with your heritage and you always have the option of using the nickname Ari if it becomes burdensome. Go for it! |
| Arel instead? |
| No. Big Disney association. It's in their theme parks, Disney on Ice, music, stores, Halloween costumes, stuffed animals, books, and shows. You can't escape it. |
| Totally fine. I’m Jewish and I know a lot of male Ariel’s. Female is usually Ariella. |
