I've never seen a "no dog" sign at any of my kids' schools, and people regularly bring them. I'm okay with it because most of the time they do so responsibly, but I have seen situations where they do not. I agree that dogs should not be near the doorways.

At one school, we picked up in a large field/playground, and I was fine with people who brought their dogs and stood on the edges. If you tie your dog up on an edge and walk up, fine, too (if they don't bark). At my kid's preschool, a woman used to bring her large dog and tie it up right by the entrance so people had to walk by a narrow sidewalk, and I thought that was super rude.

What district are you in? The signs are probably there.

My kid is terrified of dogs so I agree PP!

My child is allergic to dogs. There was one time the dog licked his face and my son got very itchy swollen eyes and lips. I love dogs but we have to avoid contact with them.

+2 I have a dog and our school is five blocks from our house and one block from an awesome dog park and I would LOVE to bring him to pickup so I could take him to the dog park after but I don't because there are SO many little kids who are scared of dogs, allergic to dogs, etc.

Thank you for being conscientious dog owners. I wish they all were like you.

If you’re too busy to walk your dog don’t have one.

Not too busy, choosing taking time to spend time with our kids by walking 30 min roundtrip instead of having them ride their bikes alone. It's all about balance/choices. I can bring my dog and be respectful of the rules/other people.

But clearly you can't be respectful of rules.
You note that there is a sign yet you bring your dog anyways. Avoiding the entrance and sidewalks doesn't excuse your actions.

Why people hate dog owners. It's the self-entitlement. Only you and your dog exist, amirite?

This is totally it. And most dogs are ugly and dirty, also. Yes, yours.

You should wait OFF the property like the sign says, genius.

I do, genius. Nice reading comprehension skills.

Away from the entrance and off sidewalks could still mean on school property. Our walkers pick up is on the playground. You could be far from the entrance and in a field and still be on school property.

Or… walk without the dog

Go step in dog poop.

Good one! 🙄

Being self-centered is not something to be proud of. Hurling insults at people who call you on your bad behavior just makes you look even less mature.

+3 from another dog owner.

Pro tip: stop bringing them to elementary drop off, too. It's not cute.
