Huh? Keep up. I said our school doesn't allow on school property so we wait away from the entrance or leading sidewalks. I would never take my dog to the playground. Good lord. |
+2 I have a dog and our school is five blocks from our house and one block from an awesome dog park and I would LOVE to bring him to pickup so I could take him to the dog park after but I don't because there are SO many little kids who are scared of dogs, allergic to dogs, etc. |
No. |
I don't know of any school that doesn't have a policy that dogs are not allowed on playgrounds or school grounds at all. It's common sense anyway. |
NP and dog owner here. I think so much of the problem is that many owners don't train their dogs not to jump or lunge, or bark or go nuts when they see another dog, so in a group, they are just all over the place.
I'm always surprised when say, my friend has her dog, who comes over and keeps licking my legs and she's saying, "Larlapup, nooo, noo, stop licking. Larlapup..." and meanwhile I'm covered in dogspit. How about pulling the dog back, and then, omg novel idea.... *keeping* the leash taught instead of letting it out again? So I agree to not be near the door with a dog, but also, if your dog is not the calm, patient, well-trained dog, then to stay far back, or don't bring them. |
You should wait OFF the property like the sign says, genius. |
Same here. Our playground has posted "no dog" signs at the gates. If people were bringing dogs onto the playground at pickup/dropoff, I'd complain to the principal. I like dogs well enough, but they don't belong on the playground, and they really don't belong on the playground when there are lots of other people on the playground. Wait on the sidewalk outside school grounds if you want to combine your dog walk and your dropoff/pickup. |
+1. Why I hate dog owners. Luckily, our school crossing guard will tell people to keep their dogs off school property. There was one exception only and that was for a service dog. Some families either haven't gotten the memo or choose to ignore. It's such a nuisance. |
Agree. I have a child who was very fearful of big dogs and some parent would always bring his giant, unruly mastiff he couldn’t control. My kid left school hysterical a few times. Funny story, same kid once set off a drug dog at Heathrow because he panicked and bolted in security when he saw it, and it alerted. Took the whole family to a back room and searched every diaper, goldfish, and pacifier. No drugs, just an hour wasted. We almost missed our plane home. Fun times. |
They are. That is away from the entrance and off the sidewalk. The poster said they see the No Dogs on School Property. I don't think this is the person who said they wait on the playground, away from the entrance. That person is violating the "No Dogs on School Property" rule. I love dogs, but they don't belong at school unless they are a service dog. I think most people are good about not bringing their dogs to the school, although I see a few on most days. |
I do, genius. Nice reading comprehension skills. |
Interesting. Our school does not have this policy and lots of people bring their dogs. However, I’ve never seen one unleashed or poorly behaved. Drop off/pick up is outside on the field though, not a single narrow doorway. |
Sounds like you know nothing about normal dog behavior. |
Yeah, this poster is not the problem. At all. |
I'm a dog owner. The people who are the most argumentative on this thread are not representative of dog owners. They are just jerky people. Why would you expect jerks to be any different about this item than they are in the rest of their lives. Owning a dog doesn't make someone a respectful person. |
