The DMV Unvaccinated.

if someone lives in the DMV area and is unvaccinated, and is eligible to be vaccinated, then those people are just plain stupid.

Factually incorrect statement, at least in Montgomery County, where the vaccination rate for Latino residents is higher than the vaccination rate for white residents.

Prince George's County is predominantly black/AA and 70% of adults are vaccinated.

Where do you get that number? According to the State website, 54.3% of PG County population is fully vaccinated. That's still a hefty unvaccinated population. In Howard Co, 72.7% of the population is fully vaccinated.

WTOP. Four weeks ago. It should be higher now. https://wtop.com/prince-georges-county/2021/07/prince-georges-hits-70-vaccination-rate-for-adults/

Ok. But that still shows how few 12-17s are vaxxed.

Ignorant.

The "inequitable access" reason may have worked in March but anyone who is still using it now should be ignored. The vaccine is available at every single pharmacy, grocery store and health clinic in the city. Anyone who is still unvaccinated either cannot for health reasons or (vastly more likely) simply refuses to get the shot.

I’m pregnant and I am not yet vaccinated I also wear an n95 everywhere and barely go indoors. I asked my maternal fetal medicine doc for the first shot after my c section. I’m just scared of long term effects like those late night commercials “were you injured by the covid vaccine when you were in utero?”

Now break those "whites" down by R and L and try again. OP is correct.

I'm not vaccinated. 50 yo white female Democrat. I have medical issues, including severe allergies and an as yet undiagnosed auto immune condition, with risk of blood clots. I am doing the right thing for me, which is holding off on vaccination until I have a handle on my health.

No you are doing a dumb thing, and will probably die of COVID.

Statistically, my chances of dying from covid are .001%, if I contract it.

So you're 50 years old and have a ton of health issues, but you're approximately 1000 times less likely to die of this brand new disease than the average person is because reasons. Also it's a brand new vaccine, after all, unlike COVID-19, which was so named because it came into existence in the year 1619.

Yeah. Sorry, sweetie. At 50 with multiple health issues, including one related to CLOTTING (a huge factor in many COVID severe cases and deaths), your "odds" are nowhere NEAR ".001." You are delusional.

Probably a blood clot will get me first and our bickering can end. I'm not in a position or mind frame to introduce a new vaccine into my body. I understand you are anxious about covid and berating internet strangers gives you some sense of control, but I have to do what I feel is best for me. I'm not trumping around the town and I mask up when I go to my medical appointments. If you are vaxxed and are doing well, please just enjoy your life.

NP here, the blood clot issue is serious and you need to do what is best for you and your body. The advice from your personal physicians is what matters and not this online nonsense. The name calling is just ridiculous. You do not come across as dumb. Best wishes to you (50yr old lady) stay masked up and sanitized.

Also please keep a healthy distance from young children who cannot be vaccinated because the vaccine is not available to them at this time. Thank you.

Thank you. Yes, I have been advised to hold off by my doctors. I am not taking any unnecessary risks and the rest of my family is vaccinated. I am in a currently low case area. I am not concerned about contracting covid or spreading it, if I did get it. I'm actually a bit younger than I indicated originally.

So you lied. Got it. Or you're back pedaling now, because its been pointed out that your self made risk assessment if you get COVID is wildly incorrect. Either way, you're wasting our time. Understood.

I think it is about risk tolerance (or perception of risk), rather than politics or race issues. Some people just don't want a new vaccine for a disease with a low risk of death. Stressing out over who is vaxxed and who isn't can't be good for your immune system.

Spoken like someone who hasn't spent the last 18 months zipping up body bags for people who would have lived had it not been for COVID. - a healthcare provider

I have heard of two people in their early 30s who chose not to vaccinate because of fertility concerns. One later caught Covid and regretted not vaccinating. Has since gotten the first dose.

I do wish public health officials had addressed the rumors and concerns about fertility more directly and that the media had been better about getting it out there. I am fully vaxxed and want as many people to get it as possible, and even I have some unanswered questions about how the vaccine seems to be impacting menstruation that I’d love to have answered before getting my pre-menstrual DD vaccinated. I don’t understand why this hasn’t been addressed more and I think it is causing more vaccine hesitation than people realize.

People would have lived if it had not been for the thing that killed them. Yes, that's true. Disease, accident, life choice, diet, etc.

The share of adults fully vaccinated in Wards 7 and 8 is lower than the share in Alabama and Mississippi. The city says just 24 percent of those in Ward 8 are vaccinated.

Didn’t residents in those wards get priority access to the vaccines before those in some other wards? Doesn’t seem like unequal access is the problem here.

I'd love to see the cell phones of residents in Ward 8. I am betting their social media is bombarded with misinformation about the vaccine.

And yes, you can target these messages down to their neighborhoods.

What are you prattling on about? DC is 95% Democrats. For any parent that wants the schools open it means we need to get the AA kids vaccinated this week or the school year will be derailed. Deal and Wilson are doomed at the current rate.
