40 yr old Kim Kardashian fails first year legal test

… you ask your lawyer how well they did on the bar when you decide to hire them?

Every legal and firm website almost always lists where an attorney earned their BA and JD from, and typically whether or not they graduated with honors. Maybe discount a bit for URM, other than that, easy to tease out candle power. In Kim's case the BA and JD fields would be empty, and for the rest of her life people can Google she failed her first attempt. This is not a bright person. This is not even an American of average intelligence. This is an aging prostitute increasingly desperate to cling to some relevancy and a career pivot. Even the divorce is strategic to keep her name in the news and engaging on social media. This family is sick trash.

All the people posting in this thread about what it means to fail the bar are showing their ignorance because she didn’t take the bar. She took a test they call the “baby bar” in California. It’s part of an alternate path to becoming a lawyer in CA that is not available in most states. And “baby bar” is a bit of a misnomer because there’s nothing baby about it — it’s a hard test, on purpose, to restrict how many people qualify for this alternate path.

Anyway, FYI— I failed the actual CA bar the first time I took it and I’m not dumb either.

I don’t even like the Kardashians but the amount of people trying to shame her for failing a test on here is gross. She didn’t have to do this. Getting within striking distance of passing is an achievement. Yes, she’s rich and privileged— so are many, many lawyers! But a soon-to-be divorced mom trying to do this in her 40s is inspiring to me. This is probably the coolest thing Kim has ever tried. I don’t get the hate.

It may not be the path to becoming lawyer any of us would take, but it's there for a reason, and it's a legitimate path.
First year of law school (which this essential tested on in terms of content) is the hardest for anyone.

I went to law school right after college and passed the bar. I would never attempt to sit for another bar in my 40s. I’m amazed when my friends who are my age have moved and studied for another bar. I don’t know anyone who attempted the CA bar in their 40s or without going to an accredited school.

I did at 45. I swore I would never do it again after passing the first time, but circumstances dictated.... You know what you do? Youtube that $h!t. Law professors everywhere are uploading their review classes to youtube, and I am not kidding when I say I YouTubed my way through my second bar exam. Passed working full time with a kid.

Wow. That’s impressive! Well done.

What's interesting is that things that didn't make sense the first time around clicked the second because I had more life experience. You could do it again if needed.

That makes sense. I bet I would understand property law, for example, better now than when I was in law school. Still, what you did is very badass.

You couldn't make it more obvious you're a paid PR hack if you tried. Go away.

Lol if I’m doing Kardashian PR I better get some of that reality TV money. I still have law school loans, Kim! Help a girl out here.

To be fair, it only has a 21% pass rate for first time takers so the odds were against her (and everyone else). What's ridiculous is:

- Her mentor saying it was a close score and it was during a pandemic. Kim has tons of help and likely less obligations during the pandemic. It was the perfect time to study hard.

- Kim saying on tv, “So, you guys, I did not pass the baby bar." Clearly, she'd have let everyone know the second she knew. So the whole scene was fake and staged.

Yeah, I took a second bar in my 40s working FT and with 3 kids. (I was working FT when I took my first two.) It's not that bad, really, although I wouldn't say it was a fun thing to do. 90% of what is on any bar exam I did not learn in law school, so it's not like law school was a real help. It was all just studying for the bar and learning the basics. Probably easier than right out of law school, because right out of law school you have all the philosophy and policy arguments in your head, which are actually a hindrance in the bar exam. Bar exam is more like studying for the written part of the driver's exam (but of course a lot harder) -- some of it you can intuit from experience and some of it you just have to memorize.

The first year of law school is the hardest because (1) law school classes are curved (2) the amount of studying involved. She doesn’t have to deal with (1) and obviously didn’t do enough of (2)

That's very kind. Thank you!

Didn’t she get a 474 out of 560? Is that really good or just average? I know one of the attorneys that has been helping her study and said she was genuinely trying to learn so I give her kudos for that.

Wait, you're just now realizing that most of what youe see on that show is staged? I don't even watch it and I knew that.

Anyway, I don't care about her either way but I don't get the extreme hate people have for her. She built a damn empire from a sex tape. Good for her!

I don’t watch it either. It was a quote from the article. But stuff like this bugs me about reality shows. It’s like when they walk into a restaurant and say their last name for the reservation and no one is saying, “oh my gosh! Can I get a pic?” So staged
