You seem unfamiliar with the state lottery.

Apparently they assign everyone a random number and draw the lottery with those numbers, so medical info is kept confidential.

Well you have to waive HIPAA if you want to claim the money. Seems fair enough.

That’s an only on dcum take.

Paid for by your tax dollars. Don’t get mad when the Trumpsters win it.

Good then. Anything to encourage vaccinations.

Those who receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Maryland have a chance to win some serious cash thanks to a new incentive program from the Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland Lottery, Gov. Larry Hogan announced Thursday.

Drawings will begin May 25 and continue for 40 days, through July 4. Those who win will receive $40,000, except the July 4 drawing, which will be offering a grand prize of $400,000.

“Entry is very simple — all you have to do is get vaccinated here in Maryland, be a Maryland resident and be 18 or older,” Hogan said.

I probably pay a lot more tax money to Maryland than you do, and I’m fine with this. Ohio announced a similar program and vaccination appointments went up 28% in a week.

Stupid claims about HIPAA are EVERYWHERE. Check any Facebook comment section. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I normally HATE the lottery. A government literally capitalizing on its citizens weaknesses to raise money, resulting in negative side-effects for society.

This is an anti-lottery. The government paying money to its citizens to encourage good behavior in its citizenry, which will benefit both the individual and society as a whole. I love it!

No.

And you know they will when a few do. Count on that.

I just hope it encourages them to get vaccinated.

Great idea. Hogan knows his voters, and hopefully more of them will get vaccinated.

Or, maybe it went up as appointments were more readily available.

Wow, and still not getting vaccinated. What a waste of money.

I already got both shots, and think this is stupid. Mostly because I looked to see if the winnings are taxed the same as Maryland Lotto games. They are, and they really shouldn't because the "entrants" aren't buying in. Pretty sleazy, if you ask me.
