Maryland is giving away 2 million dollars in a "vaccinated lottery"

If it gets a couple hundred thousand more people to vaccinate I’m all for it.

I don’t disagree but at this point I support the lottery because we just need to provide incentives to get people vaccinated

+1

There are people that just can’t be bothered and don’t think it’s a big deal. There’s people that don’t feel like doing it. Some of those people you can convince with this. There are others that never convince but this should help with the rest.

It's a great idea. i like it more than the little giveaways (flowers on mother's day, a beer, etc). This is a slim chance but to win something BIG. I think people will bite!

And if we are vaccinated already stil entered I believe! Wish they’d include college for 12-17 yr olds too.

Anecdotally I was in Hagerstown today and the mass vax site was bumping. Coincidence?!

How is this consistent with HIPAA?

Lol too bad. I enjoyed wondering what your life must be like.

Is it retroactive? We were all diligent and got vaccinated ASAP. My kids were vaccinated last Thursday.

It’s explained in the cnn article. The lotto generates a number not a name. Then the health department contacts you if you have won and you have to agree to share your name and address with lotto people so they can pay you. If you are concerned about privacy you can just say no.

Apparently they assign everyone a random number and draw the lottery with those numbers, so medical info is kept confidential.

Yes, because the only criteria is that you have to be 18 or older and vaccinated in MD.
