I'm an Anti-Vaxxer, Which Vax Should I Get?

Yup. Wtf?

That is not typical and normal and it was scary for OP. You are a vicious person if you cannot allow her to be concerned and allow it to be ok she was upset at her husband being that sick. Start your own thread to attack and bully people.

DP but of course OP is allowed to be scared and freaked out by her DH’s reaction - I would’ve been too. But clearly he wasn’t “near death” - that’s a needlessly alarming description that will freak people the F out.

Just to add - it freaked ME out and DH and I are getting our second shots next week. Not helpful!

Pfizer is 30mcg per dose and Moderna is 100mcg per dose.
This significantly higher dose likely accounts for more side effects but interestingly does not account for better outcomes as far as we know so far.

HERE, OP, read this one. I was going to say similar but couldn't remember the percentages. The reason that they don't cut Moderna in half is because they didn't study it that way (do the trials that way) so they can't.

Go for Pfizer.

Near death side effects? What do you consider near death side effects? Was he hospitalized? I have never heard of this.

He was pale and laid the eff up for 2 days.

This would make me nervous too. My husband was down for 36hrs and he never ever gets sick or complains. I was worried too. It’s just strange to me how significant these reactions are. Unlike any other vaccine

It’s not strange, and not unlike any other vaccines. The side effects are significant because it’s a robust vaccine and the body mounts a very robust immune response very quickly. It’s expected. They’re normal side effects, not adverse events. And the rate and severity of various reported side effects is very similar to those of the shingles vaccine.

It’s this subtle but pervasive uninformed anti-vaccine propaganda (like saying it’s experimental, untested, etc) that is so insidious. Truly, it is keeping people from getting the vaccine. It’s infuriating to me living in a county (in Oregon) that’s going into a third lockdown on Friday. Thousands of doses at the freakin’ drive through vaccine site are going unused because people will b*tch endlessly about our “commie” governor trying to keep hospitals from being overloaded but refuse to get the vaccine. She even fudged the metrics for a couple weeks to keep us out of “Extreme Risk” to avoid another lockdown but these morons can’t get their sh*t together, wear a mask and get the damn vaccine.

Pfizer for sure. Less dose, less side effects.

I’m leaning towards J&J but I have no tendency towards blood clots ... and I was under the impression the mRNA also have a clot risk. Although rare for all around.

I would say Pfizer over Moderna, no question

I worry if there are other reasons why they pulled the JJ off the market. I like the one and done but it just seems risky. My doctors couldn't give me advice either way with the medications I'm on as the medications are new, few people on them and the vaccines are new. It was very scary to take my first dose but Pfizer was fine.

They didn't pull J&J off the market - they paused it to find out more. They ended up finding 15 cases instead of 7, out of 1.4 million women. They also had time to get the word out to drs. that if a patient shows up to your office or to the ER, do not treat the traditional way.

That said, there are 2 other great options out there so I'm not pushing J&J, just wanted to clarify that.

15 is 15 too many for me. Its easy to minimize it when its not you having the reaction.

What people are minimizing is that the type of blood clot seen is one that most doctors will never see in a lifetime of practicing medicine. There have been over 250 of these types of clots since we started vaccinating people against Covid. That's HUGE.

OP is wildly exaggerating and it is gross.

I got Pfizer because of the efficacy stats and this one quote stuck with me:

"We held Moderna by the hand on a daily basis," he (Saloui) said.

Its very easy for people who don't have health issues, especially long term that impact the quality of their lives to minimize this but those of use who have long term health issues and have been human guinea pigs for other medications know that with most new medications lots of unreported short and long term side effects and not everything is as effective as they say in trials. If It was so effective, I'd be cured. 4 brand new medications in several years and non were effective. Lots of unreported side effects that a year later they now have as a warning.

What makes them significant? I am failing to understand. If you got COVID-19 and became a long hauler I would say that is significant. But getting the temporary and known side effects of a vaccine? How is that significant? I am truly trying to understand because I am right now experiencing those side effects. It is scary to read about near death experiences and significant reactions.... are you all for real? Please explain what you consider significant or near death. Getting laid up for two days doesn’t mean you are near death.

250 after which vaccines? All 3?

How many doctors you think are in the US? 500?

If pick Pfizer. In my extended family, half of us got this and half got Moderna. The people under 50 had much worse side effects with Moderna. The Pfizer ones weren’t that bad.

All of my elderly relatives didn’t have bad side effects with either.
