What swimsuit are you buying this year and why?

Up top I hate halters because they give me a neck ache but anything else goes.

Suggestions?

Summersalt has great bottoms cut like you’re describing!

Maybe it is just me..but I found summersault to be cut to high/narrow around the gusset/front. Like a thonga underwear worn backwards.

If it’s like the old school 80s styles, that’s what I like. Makes the legs look so much better.

The golden era of swimsuits!

I had a black Calvin Klein bathing suit from the late 80s that was soooo flattering. I never wore black back then and it was shockingly expensive for me but it had some sort of magic seaming that made me actually look like I almost had cleavage and had such a long torso. I’ve been looking for that suit for 30 years. I am Captain Ahab and it is my white whale.

Also note one of the reasons those girls look so good in those &0s swimsuits is their pre-cancer tans. It’s key to the high leg. Plus. all the models in the 80s had eating disorders and most used speed. So it wasn’t just the suits doing the work there!

Everlane!!! They are made of recycled material and I’m trying to shop more sustainably.

Those suits are cute but then I watched the promo video on their website and every one of the models had a wedgie. In the ad! I hate swimsuits that ride up.

For sustainability, Patagonia is also a good option. Their stuff lasts forever and they are a very eco-responsible company.

Do the Patagonia suits not give wedgies?

Yeah those videos! Why do I want to buy a frumpy style of swimsuit that is ALSO going to give me a wedgie? If I'm willing to get a wedgie, I'm not getting one of those grannie suits. And I WANT a grannie suit - just not one that's ALSO going to ride up my bee-hind.

I have a patagonia suit. Yes they give wedges, because almost all swimsuits made recently are cut very cheeky. You either get used to it or buy Lands End.

Yep, I’m pretty sure the “cheeky” look is in. I’m not wild about it but that seems to be what’s happening.

Cheeky is in style, I typically wear thongs regardles.

I know it looks so frumpy, and honestly I normally wear bikinis, but this is the first one piece I liked (and my husband likes too). Make sure to get the ribbed or ripple fabric. Looks cute with cutoff Jean shorts on top

This is cute! I'm sad they are out of the size and color I think I would need? How does sizing run?

I actually really like this one too. It looks perfect for lake days with the kids. How is the bust support? Online it says it offers support, is that just with padding?

I ordered a sleeveless swim shirt and swimshorts from Modli. Becuase I burn easily and hate tugging at my bathing suit when swimming with the kids. Will I look like an old lady? Quite possibly. Do I care? Not even a little.

Modli has some nice looking stuff but I just can’t bring myself to support any company that brands themselves as selling “modest” attire. I am sure whoever owns it is some sort of evangelical and I’m not interested in financially supporting those views.

Do you know of another company that sells similar things? I looked high and low last year. Ordered something from Amazon that was cheap and just ok but already a bit stretched out. Most of the other "modest" sites I looked at were too modest - I liked this one because I could get a sleeveless top and a bottom that didn't go below my knee.
