"I'm expecting all WL or rejections because we applied for FA."
That's not how it works though, is it? All the schools we're applying to make it clear that admissions decisions are separate from financial aid decisions. |
That’s what they say, but it seems hard to implement in practice. |
Some schools are need blind. Others like GDS, Potomac, etc are not. |
| But if you are borderline in qualifying for FA - in that you do not absolutely need it in order to afford tuition - but applied anyway, I would think that wouldn't turn an acceptance into a WL or rejection. Maybe that would be the case if you really needed FA and could not attend if you didn't get it? |
We just got this email...good sign?: As a reminder, XXXX admission decisions will be posted in Ravenna as follows: Day Students - Friday, March 5, 2021 after 4:00pm EST Boarding Students - Wednesday, March 10, 2021 after 12:01am EST Please log in using the email and password associated with your Ravenna account to access your decision. We are eager for accepted students and their parents to join us for a variety of connection and informational Virtual Events throughout the month of March. Accepted families will also be welcomed to campus for socially distant Campus Tours on the dates below. Further details will be shared via email. With excitement, |
Im guessing Madeira? Seems sort of generic. |
| I hate to burst everyone's bubbles, but these are all form emails, and the exact same ones are blasted to all applicants. They do not contain one iota of information regarding decision status. They are simply designed to reduce confusion and email traffic this week and the day of decision and the days following it. That's it. |
I understand that intellectually, but part of me still wonders if they would send different emails to different groups of applicants with different messages. Why I would wonder this, I am not sure but it’s probably related to the fact that I checked Ravenna yesterday even though I also know that there will be no updates until Friday afternoon. |

Did anyone get an email from an AD a few weeks ago? We had one reach out to check on how our kid was doing and to ask what his/her thoughts were on the school and to see i she/he had any questions.
Is this a good sign? We didn't know what to think. |
| It is fascinating to me that people get pleasure trying to provoke other people who are just interested in sharing their experiences. I am curious what would compel someone to behave like that. |
That does seem hopeful! |
It’s a troll post. |
No, it happened. |
+1 |
Pp here. If it sincerely happened then I rescind my comment. But I remain skeptical. In any case, in wither thread someone posted about how a school went all out to recruit their kid only to reject them in the end. |
