Fat and Running a 10k on May 1. Will I fail??

OP here. Checking in once a week whether you wanted hear it or not.

Worked out 6 of the last 7 days. I had ambitions of running 60min each day. That has proven too aggressive. I did a nice circuit of treadmill 7min, rower 7 min...3 rotations. That's an asskicker. I watched almost the entire 2nd season of fleabag while walking/jogging and this morning I dusted off my Pelton (that has been nothing more than an ugly expensive decoration) and peddled for 30min.

This week my focus is diet. We had houseguests all last week and my diet was no Bueno.

If you were that serious of a runner you will be fine -- some of it is muscle memory. I have taken years off with no running due to difficult pregnancies/bedrest, various injuries, etc. (haven't run in 6 months now due to an injury). Getting back up to be able to do 5K is the hardest, but once I'm there, it's fine. Definitely cross-train the way you are doing -- I'm more than 10 years older than you and my current injury is from trying to do too much running too soon - be sure to stretch!

Do check in. I love to hear progress reports from fellow runners. You’re doing great. Cross-training is beneficial and will keep you injury-free. Keep at it!

My stats:

190#s
5'9"
High cholesterol, high blood pressure
Mainly sedentary
Poor diet

As little as 5 years ago, I was 50#s lighter and worked out 6 days a week and ate very well. I ran half marsthons regularly ans did a few Ragnar races. Then depression hit me like a fuc&ing train. I did not actually know what it was. I just thought I was in a rut.

I finally went on Prozac for PMDD and lo and behold, my mental health took a 180 and my God I feel so much better. I had no idea I was feeling so bad, until I felt good. However those 5 years killed my health.

It's like I've forgotten what it's like to exerxise and run. If I start tomorrow, with a run /walk for 60 min a day do you think in 3 months time I will be 10k ready?

Yes you can!!!! I’m so proud of you! If I weren’t in PT I’d be your virtual training partner! It’s mostly mental - believe in yourself! I do.

Yes because you've done half marathons. You know what it takes mentally, which is a big part of it all.
