I have been a lifelong Democrat but voted for Hogan in the last election because he proved that he could be moderate and the other candidate was terrible. I knew I wouldn't have to worry about him doing anything crazy one way or another. The Democratic legislature was there to keep him in check and he was there to keep the legislature in check.
I don't agree with Hogan on everything but completely support his understanding of the need to reopen schools and to shut down the over reach of Montgomery County trying to close private schools. I will not vote for any Republican that has supported Trump or any of his crazy conspiracy theories. I would vote for another moderate Republican but I don't think there are many of them around anymore. Hogan is truly rare in the current environment. I will not under any circumstances vote for Marc Elrich. Please, please, please do not let him run for Governor. |
Marx Elrich is not running for governor, chill! |
Freudian typo. |
| Prior to what is going on now with Republicans plating along with Trump's assault on democracy, I would have answered that I would vote for a moderate R over a liberal democrat and maybe a moderate R over a centrist democrat depending on the candidate. I would even possibly vote for a conservative republican over someone so far left as Jealous or Ehlrich. However after the latest steps the GOP has taken to try to overthrow the election I will never vote Republican again. Just can't do it. |
| Yeah I’m not getting how anyone could vote for the anti-democracy party, the people who want to take away our right to vote altogether. Priorities, people. |
| I won't ever support anyone Republican again, ever, even if they're not a Trump supporter. |
|
I don’t vote party line.
My H is Republican. We would only vote for a never trumper. |
| Nope. I voted for Hogan, and used to split my vote, but after the behavior of the GOP AND Trump I will n very vote for another republican again. |
Agree to an extent. The problem with “moderate” republicans is that if they start eyeing higher office, they tend to lurch to the right. Hogan isn’t lurching so much as not really doing anything. His leadership on COVID has essentially vanished after being pretty good early on. FWIW, he’s delusional if he thinks he’ll ever make it through the republican presidential primary. |
Agree with this. |
| Because MoCo has left wing council with a few loons like Jawando and Reimer on it, and a left wing loon as CE, I will definitely consider voting for a Republican candidate for governor. |
|
Hogan is not a moderate Republican! He may look like it next to Trump, but keep in mind that he was kept in check by a Democratic legislature.
He is a died in the wool, solid right wing Republican. He never had my vote, and no Republican ever will. |
|
This guy who choose to write in Reagan rather than vote for Biden.
Never! I will never vote for Hogan again. |
