Gisele Bundchen's annoying pregnancy/childbirth comments

13:15 that is really interesting about maternity clothes being a western invention! i take it for granted that there are "different" clothes for pregnancy. thank you for opening my mind to a new way of thinking!

Well, we must not know the same women. Very few women I know gained that much weight and all have had a hard time losing it, including me. I'm not fat, but def could lose 10 more pounds. I workout a lot: ran several 10-mile races, 5ks and did a triathlon last year; still can't seem to lose that last 10 lbs. There are many reasons that factor into that and many of those factors simply do not apply to someone like Gisele. Here lifestyle is very different.

Also, the bold sentence is not only incorrect, it is ignorant and offensive.

Gisele is a model. It is her job. She is famous for being beautiful and thin with good genes.

I'm sure a lot of women would say they worked throughout their entire pregnancy, felt mentally capable, and were ready to go back to work a few weeks after having a baby.

She did the same thing except ... her job is physical.

Gisele strikes me as being annoying. But I don't fault her for discussing her natural birth. I had one, and I had to sometimes remind myself to shut up about it! I realize that when women who have had natural births and talk about it may SEEM like they're bragging or judging, I at least only wanted to share the information with women I loved because I genuinely enjoyed my birth and sometimes they talked about birth like it was something to be really afraid of and I just wanted to be encouraging. I also mention it because in my every day life I'm a huge wimp and never thought I had a high pain threshhold. I honestly think that almost every woman is capable of having a good childbirth. No, not necessarily pain free, (mine was not, but I never had more pain than I could handle and it wasn't like PAIN pain) but still amazing in many ways. But hey, there's no preaching. Most of my friends have had epidurals and turns out they love their babies just as much, they're great moms and I've learned from them as well.

I gained what I thought was a fairly reasonable 32 lbs during pregnancy. I bought a few pairs of maternity pants but definitely had some hip-slung pants that fit well. Likewise, I wore some of my "normal" shirts (but once I gave birth, they were all stretched out -- score one for the maternity clothes side!).

I have a good friend who never bought any maternity pants. She just wore her pants unbuttoned and long shirts. As for me, my butt got bigger, so only my stretchier jeans worked.

It takes all kinds in this world!
