They were crap at solving crime before this. I've been a victim of minor crime in DC, and the police were completely useless. Once, in about 2015, I even had the cell phone of the guy who groped me in broad daylight, and I gave it to the cops, and they still couldn't find the guy. It's not like the cops were doing an outstanding job at solving crime anywhere even before the BLM movement. In 2017 and 2018, police in the US solved less than half of all violent crimes. And if they are unwilling or unable to do their jobs unless they are showered with praise and allowed to beat people up with impunity, maybe they aren't such great public servants.

Fine, but telling all cops (including minority cops) that they are worthless, racist enemies of us all is unlikely to help matters . . . if you were a cop, would you bother with anything beyond the bare minimum right now?

If I was a cop I'd be a consummate professional dedicated to protecting and serving the community - that's what cops sign up to do.
If they sign up just to pick up a paycheck and resign to doing the bare minimum because they aren't getting ticker tape parades every time they step out their door in the morning then they shouldn't be cops.

Sounds like a lot of posts regarding teachers I have seen recently.

This is a ridiculous assessment given that Democrats were also in charge when crime rates were at historic lows. Try another variable.

The Dems have now grown more radical, and are basically decriminalizing property crime and simple assaults.

See how folks do.
Always trying to switch shit up just to assign blame that suits their biases.
This thread ain’t about property crime and simple assaults it’s about SHOOTINGS.
Who’s responsible for all these damn guns out here?

Seems like the police are doing more of that, busting into the wrong houses, roughing people up for no reason, harassing and intimidating. But then, that's always been the MO.

This. The whole "rioting is a legitimate expression of anger" grows some really screwed up fruit. All people should be treated with equity and dignity by the police, but the extreme wacky left has taken things in a morally bankrupt direction.

Yup. Different Democrats. John Kennedy couldn’t get elected today even if he ran as a Republican.

If you're seriously arguing that the police can't do their jobs because people are criticizing them in public for the first time ever, then they weren't fit for the job in the first place.

More gun dealers ripping off would-be gun buyers.

Let them all get shot. Serves them right.

I used to be very strongly against firearms, but the older I get, the more I see the real issue. Legal guns aren't the big problem. The vast majority of crimes aren't committed with legal firearms. Illegal guns are the big problem. Unfortunately most cities don't lock people up for long when they're caught with an illegal gun, and the recent "bail reform" is making things even worse. We need to get people off the street who are using (and demanding) illegal guns. The only way to do that is to lock them up for a long time.

I honestly think that if democrats supported enforcing the gun laws that we already have, we would be able to get the republican support to overturn the second amendment IF guns were still a big problem. But it won't happen until we start enforcing the laws we already have.

Did you forget that Congress took away DC's gun laws?

Why didn't someone interrupt this violence?! Pardon me sir, I know I'm interrupting, but please lower your gun!

Lot of people on this thread who presumably view themselves as being decent human beings that seem very happy to celebrate someone getting killed in DC because they can blame it on people who have different political beliefs.
