To have the MPD work with the Shell after a homicide is VERY DC.
Wouldn't it make sense to have the MPD and City work with businesses before a crime in an effort to get cameras installed around businesses that may attract crime or simply need an additional layer of security. Every time the MPD District Commanders are interviewed they sound shocked that a camera was not available to get video footage from. When was the last time a Policeman or City Employee knocked on a door and interacted with a person to pitch the idea of installing a camera at that location. How is it that city buildings (the fire station) do not have cameras. Why is the city paying people to install cameras and then not insuring that its own properties are covered. It is almost like the city snow shoveling law. We will fine you if you do not shovel your sidewalk, but we will not be bothered to shovel the sidewalks that are city responsibility. |
OMG. Thank you. +1,000,000 |
Is this possibly a result of all the Amazon shoppers frequenting the area to/ from Whole Foods ? Just asking cause it’s not exactly a “ hot spot “ for crime Tenleytown and even the HS is closed |
Stupid is supposed to hurt. No one should give a flying F about Mary Cheh's car getting stolen. Cyclists get mowed down in this city all the time and MPD blames them. Mary Cheh deserves no sympathy from any residents for being so arrogant to leave a running car on the street with its doors open. |

Any update on the Shell Station Murder/shooting?
Any update on the TenleyMart shooting? |
CDR. Bedelion from 2D says that the investigation is ongoing into the Shell Station Murder and Tenley Mart shooting. He indicated that it was not related to the Western Ave murder which had something to do with a pop up drug sale. |
| Given the recent car jacking at a gas station in Chevy Chase, in addition to this, I've asked my spouse to stop using the gas station or walking the dog out from after dark. he could defend himself but then we would get sucked into the process of explaining self-defense, no doubt a nightmare in DC. And I'm worried the dog might get hurt. Sad. |
There's a whole thread on this and mostly people agree she was being stupid and entitled. It's not that it's not an issue, but there are important problems to fix BEFORE we start trying to get to small town level safety! |
| Car thefts and car jackings are related. Not sure why that is difficult to see for this crowd. Once the car jacking occurs, it is not a long stretch to see violent shootings which turn into murders. These are all dangerous acts and the result can be death. They should all be investigated with the goal to remove this dangerous criminal group or groups. |
Um yes that is a long stretch. A car theft or jacking is a property crime of opportunity. Most murders in DC are between crews, not random residents. |
What genius concluded this? |
| The 7-11 on Wisconsin/Tenley was hit up last night. Sweetest clerks in the world. Seriously don't know how these low lifes live with themselves. |
There are random murders in DC frequently. Sorry if that does not tip the scale to "most" murders. It is certainly enough to want to look at car theft, car jackings and these weird gas station hold ups. But apparently the police agree with you and they are no big deal. |
It's forgivable because the offenders are disadvantaged. Crime and stupidity is just part of living in DC. |
| Any update on these shootings? These were MPD investigations. |
