NW Shootings

Did the Wisconsin Ave shooting and the Connecticut Ave murder end up being related?

I had heard that the Friendship Heights murder was related to a pop up Pot event.

Have the police said nothing about these shootings?

The car theft has nothing to do with the murder. They aren’t even investigated by the same type of detective. And if you leave your car unlocked and running with the keys obviously in the ignition while you go run an errand, I’m sorry, but maybe you deserve to lose it.

Sadly, murders are up across the whole country. I don't believe slashing police budgets during a pandemic and rising unemployment is the way to go about decreasing violence.

Very weird 'woke' take.

If I leave my front door to my house open do I deserve to have somebody move in and lock me out?

I understand that Mary should not have left the car running, but that does not make car theft acceptable.

You probably think those ladies wearing crop tops were asking for it as well. You can't possibly be educated with a hot take like that.

Let me amend that: this only applies to elected officials and nonviolent crimes.

So three shootings (two murders) in two weeks within a few blocks in NW and there have been no police updates let alone arrests?

Unbelievable...I think

Unbelievable...I think

Not all that unbelievable.
You're focusing on the class of the area ... (GASP!! In NW - Oh the horror!!!)
Lol, that's not a cause of concern for cops.
What's the class of the victim? That's what matters.
That's why there's been no updates let alone arrests.
Don't forget what country we're living in.
People with dark skin are a permanent underclass here, remember.

I am not concerned with the 'class' of the area. Anomalies and new patterns should draw attention from active, engaged politicians and detectives. Gang beefs and drug trafficking violence should be addressed, but we also know it is predictable in some ways and cyclical and so resources are being deployed towards it. When a new trend emerges, like the spate of delivery trucks being boosted all over town right now, the rise in carjackings and theft, random people shot pumping gas in a 'quiet' (generally homicide free neighborhood), babies shot in cars, and the overall surge in ILLEGAL gun violence in DC this year--yes, we press for specific action and redress. It is a new trend. Is it being addressed?

This "only white crimes are investigated and solved 'take'" on DCUM is so tired and old.

There is no discrimination in the lack of council action or police action.

There has been no update on the three NW shootings because that is the best way to get the story out of the papers.

There was never an arrest in the Seth Rich murder.

As another poster stated, if you cannot see how the fact that there were three shootings within six blocks is an outlier, it makes me wonder if in fact you might be working the investigation. It would explain the lack of progress. /s

I had heard that the Friendship Height murder was a pot pup up party gone bad and not related in any way to the other two. It is the other two, the Wis shooting and Connecticut Ave murder than may have been related and there has not been word one about.

Lieutenant LaShaun Alexander reported on Nov 19th at the ANC3F meeting that the two crimes were not related. (Shell Station and Wisconsin Ave assault/robbery)

She had just returned from leave and thought that she remembered that MPD was close to an arrest in the Shell Station homicide.

She also reported that MPD is working with the Shell Station to get six cameras installed at the shell under the city's rebate program.
