Concerned about future with DH due to MIL/In laws

So I have a similar situation minus the race stuff, which is a big minus, but the way we have dealt with it is that DH and I visit her once every two years and we do not bring our children. This was how DH wanted to handle it and I support that decision. He also acknowledges that she has had these issues for long before I showed up. That made it easier for me to handle when we did visit. Over many years, she has reduced her attacks on me when we do visit. When she does attack, I either walk away if I can or DH and his other relatives get her on to another subject.
