I hope it makes some of you feel really good to be so rude to others online. So brave.

Hey OP, can you answer the PP? Is your kid a junior who took a spot from a senior? I hope this is the end of the College Board and the SAT. I hope all the juniors who took these spots find their tests are worthless next year when all schools drop the test completely. Juniors do not need to be taking the test in August. OP, you are horrible.

My kid is in 8th grade and I dropped them off this morning. Sucks to be you if you couldn’t get your kid into a testing center.

Gratuitous assholery at its finest!

Maybe you should concentrate on your own kid so they don’t lose out -

I'm not the pp whose kid couldn't find a spot, but I have empathy for those whose kids didn't. Your gloating was unnecessary and obnoxious.

Your kid is in middle schools and you dropped them off for an SAT test in a pandemic?
Wow, sucks to be your kid.

Yeah because being 13 vs 16 or 17 makes such HUGE difference. Sucks to be a kid whose parent is too incompetent to figure out how to get the tested

DP. there's no reason for you to risk your 13 year old's health for a test that won't be relevant to him or her for four years. But keep telling yourself that other parents are the incompetent parents.

Wrong. Valley forge high school canceled.

Dropped son off at 7:30 NY HS. There were ~ 75 kids waiting. Like your kids, he's been studying for months. He took a full practice test yesterday with a mask on. He said it sucked, but it was his highest practice score (think he's done 8 full practice tests)

At site, there were unmanned temperature kiosks, 12 kids in his room, proctor said if they absolutely needed, they could pull mask down below nose for a few seconds. Allowed bathroom breaks. One and done. If his score isn't middle of pack for his colleges, he'll just apply test optional. Who knows whether future test dates will be cancelled.

No there weren’t. Stop with the hyperbole.

I was not the OP, and I was not at the school mentioned. I was at a high school in Alexandria, and that was exactly the situation. No hyperbole. Thankfully, my daughter said they used the whole school and there were about 8 kids in each classroom.

It looked to me like there We’re only 200-300 kids in total at the school DC went to. Everyone wore masks and inside DC it was very organized and kids were far apart.

One - how do you know what is or isn’t relevant for MY kid.

Two - I would rather be a parent who decides what’s best for their kid and gets it done than a parent who expects other parents to sacrifice what they think is right for their kids because I’m unable to manage things for my own kid.

But oh so enjoyable to me.

My senior daughter’s SAT was canceled and she couldn’t reschedule. She was also disgusted when she heard there were juniors taking up seats. I do feel for the seniors. There is so much anxiety and uncertainty. To the pompous parents taking seats from seniors, not all colleges are test-optional.

You sound terrible. Since you don’t have a senior you don’t seem to realize that thousands of these kids have had no chance to take these tests. My DC has had 3 SATs and 3 ACTs cancelled. I am able to manage things for my children, but I can’t make COVID and school cancellations go away.

And even if many colleges are, some kids actually do really well, without prep, on standardized tests. I'm glad my senior finally got to sit for one standardized test today! It will be a huge boost for DC's application package.

And all of you sound like people who have no problem with any advantages you have (test prep, tutors, travel teams) and using those to help your kids but the minute they’re at a disadvantage you expect the rest of us to sacrifice for you

My self prepped senior will be giving up a Bethesda Sept date. And I wish I could give it to a deserving senior. Oh, I cant give it up, because I can't trust FCPS to actually give the test in school a few days earlier.

Okay - am I the only one who thinks it's STUPID to have your 8th grader take the SAT???

Based on this year, you'll be lucky if the SAT or ACT is even offered by the time your kid is qualified to take it. 'Qualified' = when it counts.
