Did anyone witness this group in Georgetown late on Saturday night 8/7/20 ???

These protests have only made me less empathetic towards their goals.

So I stand corrected. Due to the IMF protest lawsuit, you can protest in the street in a single lane or on the sidewalk if you don't block it. Both expecting less than 100 people (which should be less than 50 now, per Mayor's orders). Were these Georgetown protestors allowing cars/pedestrians to peaceably pass?

Yes. Some well-stated goal besides “defund the police” would be helpful. Getting protest permits and follows rules on group size limits would also be good. The more they continue to ignore these things, the more they just piss people off rather than gaining more support. At least this was a non-violent protest.

I did not watch this protest video but the one the weekend before, they were blocking/chasing/pounding on a woman's car. I am still not sure why they haven't been charged for that.

I've always supported racial equality, just like every other rational person. I also think a lot of police are undereducated, undertrained, and have psychological problems. However, over the past few months BLM has made me grow to pretty much hate the group and their cause. Now every time I think about race or racial issues I just get pissed and annoyed. I don't think that's what they were aiming for, but who knows, maybe it is.

BLM is self destructing. I love it.

I guess this is normal and will go on forEver. I wonder what will replace the current system.

It's pretty amazing that we haven't gotten to this point a lot sooner. If a police officer ever murdered my son, husband, brother, father there's be hell to pay.

Your chances of that happening are about 1 in 100 million, so don't get your panties in a bunch. Now, if you are talking a justified shooting, your chances are much higher.

My chances of it happening are about zero. We're white. That was not my point, though. My point was that the black community has been experiencing this for years and yet have continued going on about their lives in a civilized manner. If anyone did that to MY family, I would not just go on with life as normal. There would be hell to pay.

BLM is desperate to be the center of attention and pretend they are in charge. BLM started something that has taken on a life of its own -- it's normal Americans who have no association with the BLM organization that matter now. Normal Americans who want to wake up in a decent country where police officers aren't murderers are the ones who matter now, not the BLM organization. So they can self destruct. That won't make this issue go away.

BLM would accuse you of being a racist just for your second-to-last sentence.

Good luck controlling the Golum you’ve created.

I'm white and I'm always exceedingly careful at a traffic stop etc. It is a palpably stressful interaction on both sides, and yes stuff can happen. Chances are lower for whites, but still--take care. And support the police, funding, training. And we should ALL instruct our children on how to behave in a traffic stop etc.

More white oeople were shot to death by police thanblacks, every year. In 2019, 370 white and 235 black were killed by police. As a white person, you are more likely to be shot thana black person.

Not enforcing laws on gatherings also led to a 20 person shooting and one death this weekend. There is a reason that we have reasonable, lawful ways to gather whether for entertainment, protest or anything else. If you don't want laws or don't want laws enforced, or want to pick and choose which ones are--perhaps you should start your own community? There are lots of people in Michigan who live in groups with like-minded individuals and print their own money etc. You would fit right in.

I'm willing to bet big money that those that cry freedom of expression from the bored, white teens and 20's suburbanites protesting in the middle of the night would feel much differently if the "mostly peaceful" protests were in their own neighborhoods in the middle of the night, on their lawns, trashing their cars, and waking them up scared in the middle of the night, and most would dial 911 demanding police protection. Feel free to prove me wrong.
