I spend $150, sometimes more if they have non-food stuff I want at Aldi's 3 times a month. I can see $200-250 a week, but not $500. |
| Drugs or call girls or both. |
+1 You need a divorce. The good thing is that you'll end up with more money out of it. |
That makes sense for a family of 4+. Especially now w/groceries co$ting more. |
| Kick this bitch to the curb. |
Thatβs about $20/day for lunch - $620. The rest impulse purchases. Wow... You must eat a lot for a lady. |

For me, the pandemic was the great awakening. I had been spending $7 on coffee and $15 on lunch each day. We were also eating dinner out/carryout 3-4 days a week or more, $50/pop (for three). And when I would cook, it would be something special (e.g., crab cakes). So, as a family, we wre spending about $75/day on stuff.
Since the pandemic has begun, we eat carryout about 1x per week. Other than that, everything is home (I brew my own coffee). Suddenly, our family is saving $1800 per month on my 190K salary. (grocery expenses went up). This is huge, because DD is now costing us 36K/yr in college tuition (50K saved at the beginning as of Mar 1, 60K now, but 18K spent for one semester). Wasteful spending was the cost of college. And we are not living like paupers now. I may be able to cash flow the latter years of her college.
So the 200/week can be real and not nefarious. But on your income (take home, I assume), you can not afford that luxury. |
4 of us live in the house and my daughter and 2 grandsons visit almost daily. I always have the cabinets and freezer filled so the $150-$200 is for fill ins plus fruit, bread and any extras for junk food and beverages. |
So I guess the stuff in your cabinets and freezer was free then? π. Otherwise you are not spending $150-200/week on groceries. |
If you ever did 1 big shopping were you buy double of everything which you can do once a year and spend $400-$500 then you can live on $100-$200 a week on groceries just restocking what you used. Not everyone is shopping at whole foods paying a ridiculous amount for organic products. You can shop at walmart or shoprite and buy just as healthy products and not be like the op living beyond there means. |
No. No way. |
|
Both paychecks should go into one joint account. First all the bills get paid, then some in savings and finally a equal amount for personal expenses.
That's how you should be doing it OP. You've been had! |
| OP, are you only saving $200/month on $10,500 take home?? |
Thats when you find a good home sitter. Especially now with the pandemic. No wonder people can't save or have extra money... |
I do one big shopping every 8-10 days, sometimes longer 14 days. At Aldi's I fill a cart and leave with $150 or so. In that I do stockpile given they may not have what you want next visit. I used to coupon shop a lot but its cheaper to go to Aldi's. We don't have a Walmart nearby nor would I go in one now but order online from them but I don't think they are cheaper. |
