Husband take $800/month for his own expendables and leave the household with $200

Guy here and glad someone else has a joint account. I don’t believe in his and her money. We’re fortunate to do well for ourselves and when we want to spend on ourselves or each other, we can. I’m asking myself, WTF would someone need $800 a month just for themselves. The only thing I can come up with is he has a girlfriend or he goes to strip clubs and has to hide it. 🤷‍♂️
I know I’ll hear a lot of flack about my comments...

How old are your kids?

Get rid of the housekeeper and you pocket that money. Tell your dick husband that keeping a clean house is now his responsibility

Op here.

I hope it’s not a girlfriend. I don’t think he goes a to stripclubs, because unless it’s online there’s no questionable circumstances where he’s MIA.

Does he think the $200 a week you put into savings is your money. So he is also taking $200. It's interesting that he takes the same money you take.

Otherwise does he feels he earns more so he gets more. I don't know but this is really off, I would look at living somewhere more affordable.

Easy spend that much on groceries for a family + gas.

Well time to stop buying Goji berries at WF and driving a Land Rover. I shop at Safeway and drive a Prius, and yes I live in Northwest DC. $500 a week for gas/groceries is insane unless you drive a tractor or have Duggar level of kids.

A prius is pricy so bad brag. My mortgage is under $1500 a month. Don't brag when you amenity thrifty either. Safeway is also pricy. Aldi's is cheaper.

My husband just believes in her money. Problem solved. If my husband spent $100 a month it would be surprising but its easy to do when I do all the shopping including his. They are over spending all around.

OP, I hope it’s not a girlfriend too, but ya never know. I still can’t come up with a legit reason why someone needs $800 a month for themselves. For me, that’s a monthly payment on a nice toy or two...

Op here. I save $200/month. Not per week.

Mortgage is 2900.
Car payments, 275 and 303. I drive a Pacifica and he has a 4Runner.
Insurance is 300.
Câble/cellphone is 500.
Electricity, gas, garbage, water is 400/month.
$200 for student loan payments.
We pay around ~200/month on a joint credit card.

We only put 3.5% down when we bought our first home which in hindsight, was not the best decision.

If we could move somewhere with cheaper property taxes and did not have mortgage insurance, we would save a lot of money.

I’m surprised to see people assuming girlfriend. In non pandemic times both DH and I easily spend $800/mo each on just nonsense like lunches and impulse purchases.

$500 a week is a ridiculous amount for food and gas. Were a family of 7 living in and out ofthe house and only spend $50 a week on gas and $150-$200 on food a week including take out 1 night. OP you are living beyond your means compared to what you bring home.

You don't live in the metro dc area.

How much do you have in student loans? How much is left on the cars? What’s the balance on your credit cards? I think y’all really need some Dave Ramsey in your life.

What on earth are you eating? 7 people x 3 meals a day x 7 days a week = 147 meals. How are you managing $1 per meal?

Your choices are an issue.

House mortgage is too high. $2K-2500 Max
Insurance is very high.
Cable/Cell should be $50 or less for each phone and $50 for internet. No cable.
Your utilities are also very high.
And, car payments. You stager buying cars so pay one off, then buy another. Not two new cars at once.
