Husband take $800/month for his own expendables and leave the household with $200

You. Ring in $10,500 per month and you save $200. You need a new plan.

In op's defense, the $5k is mortgage plus "bills". That could be alot of things, like car payments, utilities, cell phone, etc. That wasn't clarified.

But that doesn't matter. Whatever it is (cell, gym, car payment), they can't afford it if there's so little left over that they're scrapping over a few hundred each mo. So they've either got an excessive mortgage or bills that have to go.

Your husband is a selfish asshole, and also it’s “my husband’s and MY income”.

Also these "bills" don't even include food and gas.

OP what's your mortgage/bill breakdown? Are you and your husband aligned on how much house you bought, cable and cell plans, etc.? Can anything go?

Off topic anyone remember the poster whose husband was commuting to Baltimore in a Tahoe or Suburban or something and spending like $500/mo to park underground? Talk about a budget problem...

Wow you are living so far beyond your means.

Meh, if it includes his clothes, shoes, haircuts in addition to coffee shop visits and stuff, it's not that much in the end.

A men’s haircut is $20-25. Starbucks is $5 a drink or so. Does he buy hundreds of dollars worth of clothes and shoes each month? What does this bitch do? Straight men do not spend hundreds on clothes and shoes each month. Every month. Do you see him with all new stuff every month?

He is buying cocaine, hookers, or has a girlfriend.

He may have a boyfriend.

Easy spend that much on groceries for a family + gas.

Where the hell can you get childcare for 2 kids at only $2k per month??!!! In DC it's $2k per kid.

Well time to stop buying Goji berries at WF and driving a Land Rover. I shop at Safeway and drive a Prius, and yes I live in Northwest DC. $500 a week for gas/groceries is insane unless you drive a tractor or have Duggar level of kids.

$500 a week is a ridiculous amount for food and gas. Were a family of 7 living in and out ofthe house and only spend $50 a week on gas and $150-$200 on food a week including take out 1 night. OP you are living beyond your means compared to what you bring home.

Your income is similar to ours. Our mortgage and household bills are about 3k a month. You bought too much house and you also spend too much on groceries every week. Having said that, your DH is being a dick.

I think she meant $500/month on food and gas.

You guys need to move to a less expensive house.

Here is where your money is going right here.
$200 for the household and kids for clothing, haircuts or anything extra.
$300/month on a bi weekly house cleaner.
$200/month into savings

Get rid of the house cleaner and then everyone has to do chores. You'll have $700/month. Ask him to give you $50 more and you'll be even with $750 each. Where is the $200/month savings going? Are you eating out a lot and commuting far? Why so much spent on food and gas?
