Same here. We try to move away from the people as we pass but I’m not wearing a mask hiking in 100+ degree heat because I might pass someone on a trail for two seconds. |
The PP said this is "the only place she could have contacted it" which is simply untrue. Yes surface transmission is a less common mode of transmission. So would be passing by someone with no indication of sneezing or coughing at the time. I'm sure mom would have mentioned someone sneezing on her. |
You're 100% nuts. |
Great brainwashing. ![]() |
NP here. I couldn’t disagree more. Thinking that consideration for our fellow citizens is “nuts” is why the US is leading in covid deaths and not seeing a decline in cases nationwide. |
Oh, God, stop being a total assh*le for once in your miserable trump-loving life. |
I'm 40 years old. I've walked/run probably 2 thousand miles unmasked since the time of covid began, passing thousands of people. I see the same people at the same time every day, since we're all on the same 6:30am schedule. We're not all asymptomatic, because I still encounter the same people multiple times a week. I'm fine, they're fine, I'll see them again in 2 days walking on the path. And nobody outside of my household has ever sneezed on me in my entire life. ALL evidence suggests viral load + time is essential. If it eases your anxiety, then my all means mask up outside. But it's for irrational reasons. Never been sneezed on by another person in your entire life? You must not be a teacher!!! |
Ok so please cite one single confirmed, verified case that covid was spread in a half second pass of someone outside. I'll wait. But I agree with you on the bolded part pf your reply. |
NP here. Why cite you a case that you won’t believe? We have no test cases of someone in a clean room for two weeks and then sent out walking on a sidewalk with guards to make sure they don’t stop. The verification you are so insistently and desperately seeking is unethical and simply doesn’t exist. Why not just wear the fricking mask? Is it really worth all this defense to go without it? |
Bingo. It doesn't exist. Not in DC, VA, Maryland, the rest of the US, or the rest of the world. I'll happily wear a mask indoors, and outside - as soon as there is an indication that the risk is there and confirmed in a moment's pass outdoors. But it's not, because you said it yourself. Zero cases of this kind exist. |
No, you’re 100% part of the problem. If we had 95% mask compliance we could beat this pandemic by reducing how many people each person with Covid goes on to infect: https://www.google.com/amp/s/medicalxpress.com/news/2020-06-widespread-facemask-covid-.amp People like you are the reason we’re up shit creek and more people are going to die unnecessarily. Hope you’re happy with your choice. |
This. It isn't mask wearers who are crazy. It is the selfish idiots who won't wear masks. If you are outside of your house put on a mask or keep yourself home. |
No, we don't wear masks out doors when not around others. We do use trails to walk and bike, and I wear a gaiter type mask and pull it up if we are in a situation where we are near people for more than just a passing moment. But in general, No, no masks when outdoors, just awareness of who is around and how close you are to others.
|
The guidelines say wear a mask when it's not possible to SD.
When we are outside in a quiet area not around others we don't mask. That is following the guidelines and are completely reasonable. |
+1. A lot of older people are flat out lying to their children and grandchildren - there has been tons of articles on this. The mom got together with someone, I'm guessing inside, and didn't tell her daughter. Perfectly common. |
