Who should the forts and bases be renamed for?

When a black man walks away with a "Have a nice day, sir," after being pulled over, he can tell us if things are fine in this country. When a black man calls the police as he is being beaten by white mob, and he ends up arrested, there will not be any enough is enough. You clearly don't care and that is the problem. They shouldn't be as those names represent our history and you cannot lease our history. Plus, its really expensive to rename bases.

Actually there is police brutality for all races but no one wants to look at that. And, talking about what happened 200-400 years ago is not relevant at this point. Focus on the present. Do you read the news about what is happening in other countries? Clearly not.

So find names that make sense now, in our current time, in our current society, and if in a future time and society they decide that person or name isn't appropriate for a Base name, who the hell cares.

Currently, naming a fort after a racist who lost the war seems ill advised.

I really like the idea of Mary Walker. I'd never heard of her before this thread - certainly sounds like someone who should be honored!

Oh yes, there is brutality everywhere. Yet, very few of those everywhere...claim to be democratic countries. Plus, U.S. democracy has been responsible for much of the violence outside this country as well.
