You realize you're making evaluations of a team that hasn't even been formed yet to support your assertion of GAL being a good league? Surely you can form a better argument than that.

You judge a team based off of a game or two. That is like the moron dismissing Brazil because of its lackluster performance against Germany in the 2014 World Cup.

The reality is the Celtic 05 and Union 04 team will make the GA age group more competitive than they were before the announcement.

Idiot seems harsh, I make some bad decisions every now and again but I hold down a job and don't sh*t my pants so I don;t know if Idiot is factual. But seems you don;t really like facts much. That's ok.

For real buddy, those teams are at best OK playing higher level soccer. It's just the reality. They are average in the National League, and struggle vs actual great teams. Why do people have to get so freaking butt hurt from the truth? Oh yeah it's D.C. that behavior is intrinsic in the beltway. I have heard the Celtic 07's are a pretty good team, but never seen them play, just parents talking. Are they the awesome incredible oft referenced Loudoun 07 team I read about here so much, well I don't know. But does 1 great team make a club? or make that cub deserve to be in a top club based league? Ehh.....I think I'd have to be an actual idiot to agree to those terms.

Well, that 07 team is all Loudoun has and somehow Loudoun is ECNL.

Tell us about ALL the great teams currently at BRYC.

Tell us how every age group in the Mid Atlantic in ECNL has last place represented by a NoVA club. Again, a league does not make four clubs amazing.

As far as the DMV a rising tide does NOT lift all boats. Stop selling your league and start selling your team.

You’d be surprised what you can learn from reading the droppings left on this forum over the course of a few years. It may not be a lot of factual info, but a ton about the ugliness of the human mind, in many cases.

Wait, isn’t Loudoun’s excuse for poor performing older teams because their talent left for FCV and McLean when the kids were 13, years ago? Wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume BU older teams suffer similar talent drains? The younger teams no longer have an immediate reason to leave. This is about the younger ages not the current HS teams.

It is on topic because the point being made is BU is a bad addition because their OLDER teams are not as good as ECNL teams. This was no different for Loudoun when they were granted ECNL. They were average CCL teams because they lost talent years earlier to ECNL and DA. Once Loudoun gained ECNL they were able to retain the their home grown talent from their younger teams. Those teams are performing much better in ECNL compared to their older counter parts.

Take a look at Union and Celtics younger ages and tell me similar retention is not possible. Union and Celtics younger teams are just as competitive against Pipeline.

And as far as these unions never working, it seems to be good so far with VDA and it has certainly worked out just fine for many years in Richmond.

While this addition is nothing more than more local games for older kids this is a very strong add for younger ages moving forward.

Maryland teams tend to have territories-Bethesda has Montgomery, SAC has Howard, Pipeline has Baltimore, with not a lot of kids moving between the three. There are other very good clubs within each area that compete with each —ie. Celtics in Baltimore, but you aren’t going to. Find many kids from Baltimore driving to Montgomery county three or four times a week or Vice versa.

I have seen both teams play against good competition and both are elite teams. I have also spoken to top ECNL coaches who also consider them elite. Some of the players on BU led Perry Hall to back-to-back state titles. HS sucks but you don't have that type of success in MD without skill on the team. If the GA is a second tier elite league then both teams will do well. I would even argue that they would be in the middle of the pack in ECNL NE.
