Only the bench girls who lose their spots to the top exDA players who join ECNL teams. GAL is a joke.

Not true. The fcv parents say gal is the best so it’s the best. Tophat is in gal. Heard of it?

Want to play that game? Here is the list of the top 75 teams from Soccer Wire's rankings that are not in ECNL right now:

Top Hat
FC Dallas
Legends
Beach
Earthquakes
FCV
NEFC
Sporting
Cincinnati DA
Lonestar
LA Galaxy
SS Select
Nationals
Albion
Galaxy SD
Reign
Houston Dash

That is only 17 teams. The other 58 of the top 75 teams play in ECNL. Let me ask you a couple simple questions:

Is 58 more than, less than, or equal to 17?

Is ECNL thus greater than, less than, or equal to GAL?

You know who isn’t on that list?

McLean
BRYC
Loudoun
VDA

So answer this, does that list matter if you’re not on it?

Wrong. McLean, MD United and Loudoun are all in the top 75. BSC is in the top 100.

But you are right about BRYC and VDA.

VDA is circling the drain anyways.

And yet none of those MD teams are in your division. Loudoun has one winning team in ECNL, VDA 1 and BRYC 1.

Gee think what FCV kids are missing not being on teams their bench players went to.

Nothing screams loser quite as loudly as clinging to rankings of other clubs, teams and players in the hope that your kid is somehow equivalent to top talent. Top talent is top talent regardless of where they play. This is the classic happy bottom quarter that ivies put in their freshman classes to keep donations pouring in. They are not the ones who are going to be the biggest donors in their class. Those are the most Talented at the top. You think they talk about going to Harvard or being in the Ivy League? Uh, no. Elite talent does not need the bumper sticker or the t-shirt. Have fun preening away, and when recruiters come around, don’t bother with the highlight reels - just tell them your kid is playing in the ECNL and see how far that goes. Weak weak weak.

I cannot speak for the rest of the girls on our team, but my daughter is not. She loves her teammates, but she does not want to risk her upcoming recruiting years on an unknown platform. The situation sucks. At least she knows several of the girls at the ECNL team that she will be joining, so hopefully it works out.

+1 Same for us. DD loves the girls, just not willing to take the risk after all the hard work. Fairly confident we are not alone in making the change but each family needs to make their own decisions.

It sure is.

I don’t think so. Their 06 team is strong. If they pick up a couple of players from other teams and don’t lose anyone. They will likely be the team to beat. 08 is also shaping up to be a good year for VDA girls.

Have fun playing a weakened Metro United club 4x a year in GAL. Maybe you can also get Vienna, SYC and Golden Ball to join GAL to round out the competition. That'll impress those college coaches

If your kid had talent you would not be talking nonsense like this. Good luck keeping up and watching your child fail to live up to your dreams. Who knows. Maybe I am wrong and they will make it all the way to James Madison or George Mason!! 😀

I didn’t. All of you are losers trying to soar like eagles and looking like turkeys. Grow up. Your kid isn’t that good if any of you are worried about any of this shuffling of the deck.

When a D1 coach shows up at a Loudoun/BRYC game the inevitable question arises, “This is ECNL right? Do you have anything else in the back?”

Per a ECNL Board Member in January...ECNL was set to add 6-10 clubs for 20-21 to keep control of amount teams invited to showcases that they felt they could handle.

Why change their business model for upcoming season just because of the so call "only pathway to National Teams, Top College Programs, etc" that made most non soccer educated parents gullible to believe this

To squash the competition before it has a chance to take root?

Logistics can change and frankly with an uneven opening of the economy looming on the horizon they may have more time to plan than they had ever hoped.

Agree completely. It was shortsighted inaction guided by arrogance. You can read it in the threads here and it’s in the DNA of these folks. It’s their greatest weakness.
