Still using lovey from infancy?

Anonymous
My kids (college freshman and high school freshman) still sleep with theirs. They used to bring "substitute loveys" to sleepaways and vacations for fear of losing their favorite (and I think embarrassment at how grungy their favorites were).

I slept with my favorite stuffed dog until I was married. I also have my dad's 80-year-old teddy bear (complete with the outfits that my grandmother made for it) that he slept with until high school.

Same. God forbid we leave it behind. I might as well get that thing a passport too.

I won “Mom of the Century” when I went back to a hotel room in Vegas as we were heading to the airport to retrieve ds’s stuffed animal. He was 14. He and the well-worn monkey are in college now.

My DS is still in HS, but I can foresee him & his lovey headed off to college soon. However, it no longer travels since the we had a scare when it was left on a bed in the hotel room and the cleaning lady sent it to the laundry room with the sheets. The guy who searched the laundry room and found it got a very nice tip. Like others, DC can sleep without it, but prefers to have it at home.

When my DS was around 10, we had a conversation that went along these lines:

DS: Mom, I don't think I can ever get married.
Mom: Why?
DS: Because I don't think my wife would put up with (points to lovey).
