My kids (college freshman and high school freshman) still sleep with theirs. They used to bring "substitute loveys" to sleepaways and vacations for fear of losing their favorite (and I think embarrassment at how grungy their favorites were).
I slept with my favorite stuffed dog until I was married. I also have my dad's 80-year-old teddy bear (complete with the outfits that my grandmother made for it) that he slept with until high school. |

My DS is still in HS, but I can foresee him & his lovey headed off to college soon. However, it no longer travels since the we had a scare when it was left on a bed in the hotel room and the cleaning lady sent it to the laundry room with the sheets. The guy who searched the laundry room and found it got a very nice tip. Like others, DC can sleep without it, but prefers to have it at home. |
When my DS was around 10, we had a conversation that went along these lines: DS: Mom, I don't think I can ever get married. Mom: Why? DS: Because I don't think my wife would put up with (points to lovey). |
