The sad/funny part is those percentages aren't bad at all when you consider the county average is closer to 35%. |
People seem to be freaking out over nothing. |
Yes! People are acting as if this is the first instance of kids being bused past schools closer to their home...this has been going on FOR MANY YEARS! At least 20 years!! The kids who attend South Lake ES are much closer to Gaithersburg Middle, Forest Oak MS and MV Middle, but they are bused to Neelsville. There are kids in MV who are sent past 3 elementary schools in the Village to South Lake ES; that has been happening for at least 20 years, too. Just because it's been that way for so long doesn't mean that it should continue indefinitely. Eventually, changes in boundaries need to be made, and those boundaries were not guaranteed when you bought your home! |
Yup. Somebody tell the people on that Facebook group that boundary changes are necessary in order to have local schools. Maybe they should change the name of the group to Montgomery County MD People Against Boundary Changes. Or, if they'd rather be for something: Montgomery County MD People For Keeping The Current Boundaries In Perpetuity. |
Actually I know a couple people in Clarksburg who have sent their kids to private all along. Says the zoned public schools are overcrowded and not very good. One got their oldest into the poolesville magnet for high school though. |
