from the people at cabin branch i’ve talked to, it’s not as much SV l that is the issue. it’s neelsville. that school is a complete dump.

Kids from Neelsville MS have attended Clarksburg HS with Clarksburg kids since Clarkburg HS opened in 2006, but I never heard a peep of concern from anybody about the condition of the Neelsville MS building until a few months ago.

Then you haven't been listening. Those concerns came directly from the Neelesville community, Watkins Mill cluster and Clarksburg cluster coordinators forYEARS. Stop demonizing the people of Cabin Branch who literally just moved there. Most have never even heard of Neelesville.

But nobody else cared until it was their own kids involved. And if their own kids hadn't been reassigned there, they would have kept on not caring.

Most parents are mostly concerned with their own kids’ school.
My kids attend a nonW school and I don’t really give a rat’s a$$ about the drug problem at Whitman.

PP, you’re ridiculous.

Exactly. The Cabin Branch parents aren't deeply concerned about the bad condition of the Neelsville MS building. They're deeply concerned that their kids have been reassigned to a building in bad condition.

And that is reasonable.

Like what?

Way longer commutes.

Sorry but no one is going to be looking through the BoE hearings online when it doesn't concern their school. I'm glad you have time to do that for all schools in mcps as you seem to imply we all should. Do you work?

This.

I’m not worrying about the other MSs in the County because our MS has plenty of it’s own issues.

Next year have the same people provide stats from CB to Neelsville. I think though if you can provide these stats you might get the attention from the no boundaries change group to pressure the BOE to move your middle school back.

If you have FB join- Montgomery County MD Neighbors for Local Schools without Redistricting.

Isn't that the group that had parents booing, screaming, and heckling at Julius West MS last night?

Good for them! We know that Jack Smith and the BOE don’t listen otherwise.

This is a scare technique that the other side is using to try to prevent us from organizing. They are making things up.

South Lake ES to Neelsville MS: 4.9 miles.
Cabin Branch ES site to Neelsville MS: 4.9 miles.

Hey, you know what would be a good idea? If MCPS did a county-wide analysis of boundaries, looking at capacity, distance, and demographics. That would really be useful.

No, parents were actually booing, screaming, and heckling at Julius West MS last night. Nobody is making that up. It happened.

All the whole long way from southern Clarksburg to northern Germantown.

No. That's not the reason.

Do you trust the people who just moved you from Clarksburg/RH to do a fair county-wide analysis of boundaries? I don't.

OK, then don't. But that's who you've got.

We paid a lot of money to live in Cabin Branch so our children wouldn't have to go to school with poor kids. This is unacceptable. Something must be done!

That's not really accurate. Better would be, "We paid a lot of money to live in Cabin Branch so our children wouldn't have to go to school with morepoor kids. This is unacceptable. Something must be done!"

I mean, look at the 2017-2018 numbers:

Clarksburg ES: 19% FARMs
Rocky Hill MS: 22% FARMs
Clarksburg HS: 27% FARMs

And there are a lot of MPDUs in Cabin Branch, and there will be more. And kids from two Neelsville MS feeder elementaries are already at Clarksburg HS.

So evidently that level of poverty is totally ok - if the prospect is reassignment from Rocky Hill MS/Clarksburg HS to Neelsville MS/Seneca Valley HS.

But imagine the screaming if, for example, people currently zoned for Pyle MS/Whitman HS were reassigned to a middle school/high school with poverty percentages like Rocky Hill MS/Clarksburg HS.

I'm pretty sure you are a troll trying really really hard to paint a negative picture of Cabin Branch. We have already figured out who some of you are and have proof.
