I think your best bet is to send her in a taxi or hire a transportation service. |
I just found out that Hop, Skip, Drive services our area. Does anyone have experience with them? |
Are you anywhere in DC area? If not, I would ask around your neighborhood. Perhaps they can be more helpful |
It doesn’t sound like you are anywhere near what one would consider the DC DMV area. Not sure what input you are seeking when everything posters will likely suggest apply to the DC DMV area. I can’t even imagine a school off of a highway with no sidewalks. |
This is why many moms stay SAHMs even after their kids begin school full time. It's a sacrifice and you basically need to choose between your own career and your kid's activity. |
I use a “kid Uber” called Rydz. |
Kid doesn't get to go to dance. She'll live. |
Pay another mother BIG bucks |
Here is one of the many many things wrong with this country. Our communities are so un-walkable and un-bikeable and lacking in public transportation that it seems like a reasonable idea for a woman to quit her job so she can drive her middle school student one mile every day after school. |
No. It's a semi-rural area. Do you really think you can make entire country "walk able" or "bike able?" You can't make an entire country "walkable" or "bikeable" to accommodate people's choices. OP chose to move to a semi-rural area. Chose to have a kid. Chose to put that kid in dance. So now OP can choose to have a stay at home parent, have her daughter quit dance, or pay through the nose for reliable care/transportation. |
What about asking a dance instructor? If they are on their way to the 4pm class maybe they’d want some extra $ to pick up on their way to work?
This is what my mom did for gymnastics when I was a child |
Oh, please. There are many walkable/bikeable/etc. communities here--just like there are many inaccessible rural communities in other countries. The difference between city/suburb and rural is present in EVERY country. |
Is your kid that into dance that this makes all the difference in the world? |
High schooler or teacher at the dance school. Go into work early so you can get out early enough to take her.
Pay $40-50 daily. If I understand correctly, you want someone to be there before dismissal, so you daughter can get into the car, then wait 15 minutes for the buses to leave? Nope. They need to be there when the buses leave and cars can get out of the lot, it’ll halve their wait time/frustration. |
