Why are there always so many blue collar men at 7-11?

I make coffee at home but then often stop at 7-11 for another cup on the way to work. It's a $1.
Does everyone at starbucks have bad money management skills? I always thought that was expensive for a coffee, as well as taking too long and doesn't taste good, IMO. I LOVE 7-11 coffee.

You haven't lived life to the fullest unless you've had a Slurpee. It is the elixir of life, a comforter in times of distress, and a ray of sunshine from the heavenlies saying that everything is gonna be alright.

I don't know the answer to your question except to say, I never really go to 7-11 or convenience stores like that.

Really? You never have to stop off and pick up a gallon of milk on the way home? You never have a craving for a Twix bar? It just seems like the type of place that everyone would ultilize, yet it seems like the population you typically see there isn't an acurrate cross section of the population at large?

No. (1) There aren't any convenience stores on my way home from work but there are grocery stores (it's pretty easy to get in and out of the organic market where I get my milk). (2) By the time I come home and I need to get bread or something I forgot, it's just as easy to go to the grocery store located near my house as it is the convenience store in my neighborhood. I just never think to go to the convenience store to purchase items I can easily (and more cheaply!) get at the grocery store that is also convenient to my house.

Cigarettes are cheaper at 7-11 than almost everywhere else.

Slurpies. You can't get slurpies at your local Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, etc.

My Dh grew up with a mom that NEVER let him have sugar and as a result he's a sugar fiend now. Once a week, he takes our son to an activity and has to pass by a 7-11 on the way home, so they usually stop and get a slurpie.

Other than that, no one in our family really goes to 7-11. About a month ago I was in Philadelphia (as a tourist) and was really thirsty and wanted a bottle of water. I happened to be close to a 7-11 so I stopped in there to buy water. Situations like that come up about 2-3 times a year for me. That's about it.

As long as they're not in my Starbucks, it's fine with me!

Well Starbucks people look more prosperous. It's only bad money management skills when you can't afford it. And sure, the coffee is a dollar, but then they're getting wings, chips, hot dogs, slurpees and a cigarette too.

I agree that I prefer 7-11 coffee.

Milk from a convenience store? I grew up on that. No thanks.

And a grocery store is way cheaper. Where are you shopping that it’s such a chore? And 7-11 checkout is hardly fast, clerks are slow as gravy.

Does your BIL have neck tattoos?

No but he dresses very sloppily.

For the poster who asks what happens if you run out of milk...the grocery store is closer to me than a 7-11. Plus I don’t have to fight to get in and out of a tiny parking lot. Our grocery store, like many, is open till 10 or 11pm. If I ran out of milk that late at night, it can wait until the next day.

OP I'd tell you what , you're one of those people who happens to find themselves in a decent position on the socio economic scale and who shops around for occasions to feel Superior to others in order to conceal your emptiness and psycho-moral insolvency .

Your question betrays your lack of knowledge of business ( it wouldn't surprise me at all if you've never owned one). Businesses because of their offerings and attendant prices would attract a disproportionate number of consumers from certain demographics. You see a disproportionate number of 'blue collar' men at 7_11 for the same reason you see a disproportionate number of rich housewives and their plutocratic husbands at the Hermes store . Instead of letting your false sense of superiority betray your general idiocy , i'd suggest you try some common sense.

The coffee is delicious. The mystery is why does the clientele seem to be exclusively blue collar men?'

Blue collar men have been the backbone of this nation for decades. Have some respect.

I mean doesn't everyone go to 7-11? It's just never made sense to me as to why the 7-11 crowd is so heavily skewed this way.

Think about it, op. 7-11 is everywhere and so is construction workers who probably have little time. They have to eat and where else are they going to go? They don't have two hour lunch breaks!

I think it's because during the day, the office workers are in their offices (or at the deli in the ground floor of their office) and the stay-at-home moms and teleworkers have their lunch/coffee stuff at home. The construction workers, contractors, etc. have a lunch break or might be out and about between jobs and 7-11 is a good place to pick up a quick bite or a drink. I've noticed this too.

Meanwhile, I'm the one in sweaty running clothes buying a slurpee at 9:00 a.m. because slurpees are refreshing when you've just run in the heat.

That's a lot of words, and very little sense. In my neighborhood, there are multiple 7-11s but also multiple grocery stores and other corner stores where you can get the same stuff for cheaper. There's some kind of product or cultural mix not available at the regular grocery stores that is drawing a certain clientele to 7-11. Maybe it's the slurpees, cheap coffee, or cheap cigarettes.
