Good for you. I got a perfect verbal score on two separate SATs, perfect 800s on all English or literature subject matter SAT IIs, and a 5 on two AP English exams without having taken AP English classes, and I was still polite and well-behaved in English class, turned in my assignments, etc, even when it was easy as hell. It got to the point where I joked to my parents that my teacher would have given me an A just for turning in a blank piece of paper, but I still put in my best effort. And I still do today. Because I am not an asshole and I value hard work and character. Brains don't mean much if you're a jerk. |
But are you perfect? No flaws? It’s great that you are so hard working and studious, but what if your brain wasn’t wired to focus well? What if you had a learning disability? It’s all well and good that you were able to do a good job, but you’re not perfect. There is something that others do well that you don’t. Do you want them to shame you for it? I’m sick of the smug people on dcum who act like they’re perfect, and everyone who isn’t like them is worthless. Find some compassion—school isn’t made for all kids. You could focus, a lot of kids can’t. You could sit still, a lot of kids can’t. You were made for a typical school setting, a lot of kids aren’t. Hope you pass on a little empathy to your kids instead of calling everyone who isn’t like you a jerk. |
lol, this reminds me of a friend of mine whose DS was kicked out of 2 day cares by the age of 3 for misbehavior. She says teachers do not know how to handle him because he is too smart for his own good... ![]() |
Oh yes. That is ABSOLUTELY the problem. Mmm Hmm. He's too something for his own good. |
How ironic that you are on here defending kids acting like jerks... |
How ironic that you missed the point entirely... |
