Georgetown Prep.

Just because a school is Catholic does not mean everyone attending is right wing, a republican, or even Catholic. Just because you may not like one particular graduate from a school does not mean all graduates and current students are the same person. Come on people, get over yourselves and stop spreading hate. Our world is very diverse in race, religion, values, sexual orientation, interests, likes, backgrounds, etc. These diversities are everywhere, including Prep. I know some people don't want to believe this, because they prefer to judge, hate, over generalize, and negatively stereotype people they don't know just because they send their son to Prep. Please try instead to be the bigger person, rise above, authentically get to know people, respect everyone's differences, and spread love instead of hate.

Well said. For those critical of Prep, keep in mind that John Dingell, Chris Dodd, Thomas Boggs, the Shrivers and Robert Kennedy’s sons all went to Prep. They are/were prominent Democrats. Prep graduates also include the inventor of modern chemotherapy, a Medal of Honor recipient, Pulitzer Prize winner, among others.

Most of the graduates I know from Prep are pompous asshats with mediocre careers who think they are special.

I wouldn’t send my son to Prep either if they paid me.

I don’t agree with the mostly conservative view of the school.

Great! Thanks for letting us know that. I don't agree with the mostly progressive views of other schools. Isn't that fascinating?

Progressive and conservative do not relate to one another in this context but thanks for proving the point.

Thanks PP for confirming what many already know that GP leans conservative among the privates.

At Prep and other Catholic schools, the divide between Republicans and Democrats (Liberals and Conservatives) might not be so sharp because the group is bound together by things they have in common, like the Catholic religion, the commitment to a Catholic education for their children, maybe even preference for Catholic colleges post-high school for the kids. There may also be family ties, Parish and parish school associations, acquaintances from growing up together in DC and memberships in clubs and organizations.

Our experience was that people stayed away from discussing politics because there is so much else to discuss and it's so divisive.

If you cannot restrain yourself, than this would be a problem. There are enough Republicans and conservatives in this little world, that it would be pretty easy to pick an unnecessary fight or offend people.

The Democrats that have sent their kids to Prep (Kennedy's, Shrivers, etc.) were doing so because they were Catholics and not because they were Democrats.

I think GP has a perception issue because of the Kav scandal. Majority of parents I know applying to the school are also applying to SJ, Gonz, and othr Catholic schools and are uber liberal.

But that's the case in any given year, Kavanaugh or not. With over 400 applicants in the 2018-2019 admission year, they're not hurting.

So it has been mentioned that if your son is an athlete they have a better chance of getting in. Gprep isnt part of the WCAC so i dont know how competitive they are sports wise.

Is your application flagged as athlete by the coaches or just in general. I am trying to figure out how do they know who is a novice versus someone who truly has athletic talent.
