Rush for the Cup

My other DC is on a team with almost all new players, many whom wanted to move from top teams at bigger clubs to smaller for a variety of reasons but not because they don’t have skills. The coach is an international footballer and also new. They’re using the tourney to test the waters. Point is, don’t make any assumptions going in.

Pay less attention to the outcome and more on the development of the players at this point. If their technical skills are apparent and they’re moving the ball well, that what’s important. Physicality may win the day at younger ages when there’s more disparity but the long game is about technical development.

This is u11 girls playing u12 girls. Different vs u13 playing u14 girls.

Yup.
As a Bethesda team, I'm really pissed that we're paying money for this. Either just have a BSC scrimmage weekend, or send different teams to different tournaments, but this is ridiculous.

Girls growth spurts usually occurs between u11 and u12. The u12s girls will in general be more physically developed vs u11. On average the u12 will be 3 inches taller and 15 pound heavier. After u13 the physical development difference are not as large as most girls gone through their growth spurt. So the physical difference between girls u13 vs u14 are not as big. This is why it is not uncommon for freshmen girls to make the varsity team.

There are girls that my U12 DD played against that looked like fully grown women. Unless the U11 girls have tremendous skills & quickness, they might struggle.

It’s a new season, rosters change a lot, and what was once what you think was a good team may no longer be. Alternatively, there will be teams that are better than ever due to turnover of players and coaches. If your boys win the whole thing, good for them. It will give them a good morale boost starting out the season. If they have to play one of their club’s other teams once, you should get used to it. This happens a lot with the lower level teams in tournaments.

I looked at the u12 girls bracket. BSC blue u12 is playing u11 teams. Wonder how that will turn out.

It looks like they didn’t have enough U11 and U12 teams, so they combine the two age groups. I’m sure there will lots of disappointed U11 teams.

Looks like some U11s do ok. https://twitter.com/bethesdascnews/status/1165781550245527554?s=20

You linked a Boys’ Team. We’re talking about girls as they start their growth spurts around U12. Boys’ growth spurts occur at a latter age.

I am not happy we are paying for our u11s to play in this tournament.

you all are acting crazy.
The top teams in the area play up in these "pre-season" tournaments. Many times theyll play up at this age group to get the 11v11 experience before going to it full time. (and to prepare for their 11v11 spring tourneys). So there being a U11/U12 combined bracket isnt the end of the world.

The size differences arent all that crazy like people here are saying. (coming from someone that currently has a younger U14 player).

All that being said, size isnt the say all tell all determining factor of who will be better.

you gonna cry every time your team plays up on purpose? seems you have no confidence in your kid or team. cuz if so, find another sport because it will be a regular thing (unless youre on a lower team)

11v11 is not until U13. So for these U11, that’s 2 years away. I can see U12 playing up to U13 to gain this experience.

U11/U12 Size differences depend upon which U12 teams the U11 teams they play against.

But at the end of the day, it’s only a soccer tournament. Just enjoy it. Should be another nice weather this weekend too.

I agree. I would be more disappointed if my U12 plays against U11 teams.

Theres actually 7 in the Boys U11...... 3games each....21 games amongst those 7 teams...how many games are bethesda vs bethesda out of those 21? the answer is ONE. So everyone should stop their freaking whining. Jesus there are some snowflakes in here.
