Sugar shack donuts are definitely unhealthy and full of sugar, but they don't contain a ton of preservatives etc. |

When your little snookums are older, you will start throwing parties from Costco and Safeway like the rest of us. I had parties for my kid with his friends with “organic” mommies and bought the food I preferred. High quality wood oven pizza, veggie trays, and a good cake with no preservatives. Little ingrates didn’t want any of it - just a bite. After I did that twice, it’s Papa Johns and Safeway cake. Kids scarf it down. As a bonus, I only spent a third of the money.
Your original description didn’t sound horrible for a breakfast party, especially for kids. |
I know. I’m saying I know the sugar made me sick. For the other stuff, I found the processed food to be inedible. I didn’t think we ate THAT well, but I couldn’t even eat the rest of the food. Blah. |
You really aren’t making yourself sound any better with all of these qualifications. Donuts are donuts. They have sugar. I suspect you have disordered eating as you are fixating on one bad bite of food. |
I don’t, at all. I’m saying that if you eat well, then you can tell immediately that processed food doesn’t taste like much else except chemicals. It’s sort of two discussions: 1. I ate the donut. It had a lot of sugar. It made me feel sick. I know donuts have sugar. I knew what I was doing. 2. Processed food is nasty. |
| No matter how much fruit and vegetables and lean protein etc I eat, and I eat a LOT Of that stuff, a doughnut still tastes incredible and it sure doesn't make me sick! Sorry your extremely healthy eating habits are making your stomach less tolerant of other stuff. I hope you are never stranded in the woods and have to eat dirt and twigs to survive. If you vomit it up because your tummy doesn't like it you might not make it until the rescuers show up! |
You are so dramatic. Most of us here eat pretty darn healthy. Pizza and Oreos are still tasty treats. You have a lot of sh*t going on if one donut has inspired this much angst and actually made you sick to your stomach. God, it was probably 200 calories at most. Chill out. |
| I think the “sick to your stomach” feeling might be anxiety-related. |
OP, the real discussion here is not about the food you ate or didn't eat or whatever. It is that you were an invited guest to someone's event and your take away is about the inedible food. You can tell yourself it is because you eat "clean" but what it really is about is that you are being judgemental. My grandmother was like this. She went to events and then judged the hosts and after would talk about it to anyone who would listen. The food they served, their outfits, etc. It was always something. She felt superior. You were an invited guest. You did not have to attend. Be gracious and be kind hearted. You are being neither. |
| Yee haa! Somebody smack that high horse of OP's. Here I thought we were going to get corn dogs or triple fried oreos! |
| You felt sick.... but you were not actually sick? Maybe these hillbillies that threw the party say the exact same thing you do. Normally they eat healthy, but were rushed and bought already made for a kids BIRTHDAY PARTY! Did you miss the hot dog only birthday party thread? |
| Donuts have a lot of sugar...that's why they so tasty! Omg, you ate a doughnut(yes that it the proper spelling) and now you are sick! Get over yourself buttercup. |
3. Then I had to come on to DCUM to let everybody know that I eat so healthy that a donut made me sick. |
| Uh, ok? |
Maybe she is the Jason Fung ocd pp?! That broke her eat nothing in a day rule? Us donuts eating people will survive the zombie apocalypse and she would be the first the go." After evading the zombies for a month, she died because she ate a Little Debbie's donut! Tragic!" |
