Here's what I do when I encounter in a scooter in the sidewalk where it might block people: I pick it up and move it out of the way.

So do I. But you know that not everyone is able to pick them up - they can be quite heavy for many people.

I wouldn't be so against the scooters if they had stations where you picked them up and left them. As it is now, they're just junk and toy littering.

and if I stopped to pick up every piece of trash that someone could have easily deposited in the trash can rather than the sidewalk, I'd never to get work on time.

Again, just have a place for them to be "stored" between uses. society is lazy. toss trash out the windows, drop their dockless bike and dockless scooter where ever they want, since its not their responsibility, someone will come along and clean up behind them. is that really the way we want to live...

Yes, not everyone is able to pick them up. All the more reason for people who are able to, to do so.

Otherwise, it seems like another great idea that people are ruining because a large portion of people are just inconsiderate narccisists, like the people that dump the scooters mid sidewalk to block wheelchairs and the disabled; speed down pedestrian sidewalks and knock people over; or drive down the middle of the street going against traffic. scooters are crazy dangerous because people who aren't good at them ride them. They are dangerous on the sidewalk. they are dangerous in the street. And the person who says 0 people have been killed by scooters is absolutely wrong.

I'm guessing you're not trying to navigate a sidewalk in a motorized wheelchair.

You're right, I'm not, which is why I pick them up and move them - so that they don't block the way of people who are in wheelchairs.

I walk 7+ miles a day to and from work, electric scooters are a menace.

I walk 7+ miles a day to and from work, electric scooters are a menace.

Etiquette on a multi use trail is for bicyclists to ring their bell before passing someone to alert the pedestrian to their presence. That way you don't surprise them and avoid the pedestrian making a sudden move into their path.

I'd expect scooter riders to do the same thing if they choose to ride on a sidewalk. It's not always someone telling to mw to move.
