I move the scooter into the gutter. |
We live in Northwest Washington, which has streams and wetlands and is not the inner city. Who exactly removes these discarded scooters from parks and trails? The National Park Service budget has been cut and our NPS and DC parks are under maintained as they are. |
Next time you see a scooter in a stream or wetland in NW take a picture of it and post it so us skeptical folks can maybe buy that crap. |
And then remove it. |
Unless you're walking exclusively on off-road trails, electric scooters are a nuisance. Cars are a menace. |
Omg you have to be kidding. If you are going to take public travel space from any mode of transport take it from car, not pedestrians. Look at eg U street- there are four lanes for cars to travel and two lanes for cars to park and some areas of the sidewalk are so narrow that wheelchairs don’t fit through. Just end free street parking for cars and five that to bikes and scooters and you have major transport problems solved. |
They should just be parked on the street instead of the sidewalk- problem solved. A car for one person takes up the space of what, four or five scooters? No reason to continue to keep valuable road space jsut for cars. |
+1 to helmets Why is our council not addressing this |
When was the last time you checked? Most high end cars come with it already. |
Yup. We need to stop trying to cram everyone who isn't in a car in the same narrow space. Reallocate some of the roadway away from cars. |
Because requirements for helmets don’t significantly help safety overall. Instead requirements for helmets reduce the number of riders. More people seiving is less safe. I’d always recommend a helmet if you can, but not require it. If you really care about safety then mandate 20mph speed governors in all cars when they enter city limits. |
| DC is more and more Owelllian. These people want to control and regulate everything. Ouch. |
| I hate those scooters with a passion so I welcome this bad wholeheartedly but it should be 24/7. They ride too fast on the sidewalk and too slow on the road. They need to be gone. |
That’s very selfish. I’ll note that people driving cars in rush hour traffic go too slow. Let’s ban those too. Only pedestrians, bikes and scooters during rush hour. |
Have you learned how to read? They ride them on sidewalks and almost ran me over a few times. I can't put my whole family on a scooter to take them to school/daycare so your comment is idiotic. BAN THE SCOOTERS |
