All I can say is that I have been looking at the college matriculation list for the various private schools that have been posted on this form, and Landon really is at the bottom of the pack. It is not performing well compared to the other private schools, at least not on the surface. It’s more on the level of Georgetown prep and Gonzaga than the top schools.

Yes, but this is it's niche. It has a fairly open door policy for admissions (for full pay students). It's a solid, well-rounded education for those who want to pay $45K and avoid public (for whatever reason) but it's not an elite school with competitive admissions.
I know many kids who matriculated at Landon after they were not able to get in to the super competitive schools. That said, (again) I think it's a great, solid education and we'd send our son there. We know many great kids who attend.

The shade, the shade LOL. Couldn’t get in, huh?

I'm not a Landon parent but you've got to be kidding me with your characterization. Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Vanderbilt, UVa, UNC, Tufts, Amherst, Swarthmore, Williams . . . this is an excellent list and particularly for a small school. Next tier of schools also impressive and I am sure some strong students chose to accept merit aid at some of the mid-tier schools.

+1 on the merit aid

Someone from Landon is going to Swarthmore?! That is going to be... a culture shock.

he's a very bright,studious, well-rounded child. he'll be just fine.

We loved Landon. Great experience, the boy's are really sweet --and I'm not being facetious. I'm sure they're are a few outliers, but I didn't meet or see them.

Don't want this whole thread to get derailed but comparing a still warm corpse to a 35 year old accusation with no proof or witnesses is a bit unfair. That said I think Landon is an excellent school and I'm glad to see that they are putting their kids into a lot of really good schools. (not just the Ivies).

As a Prep alum I never thought I'd be defending Landon but the amount of hate that they receive here is ridiculous IMO.

Landon parent here. Most people who have kids at Landon love the school. Many who have kids at Landon and Holton wish Holton were a bit more like Landon. The school is warm and every boy ends his career the best of himself. The past few years I have heard many a friend with kids at schools that everyone on DCUM (or most) covet and many of these same parents are stressed for their kids. Stressed about bullying, stressed about work load and stressed about college placement. Landon seems to avoid this stuff. I cannot tell you about what went on this school years ago but now it is a terrific place. At the end of the day if your son is happy and well prepared for college and gets in a college he is happy about then all is okay in the world.

This school mints young men with an entitled sense of sexuality. Extremely toxic.

False! Just the Harvard, Penn, and one of the Chicago’s.

Sports recruit at UChicago? Have they lowered their standards? Harvard and Penn, sure, but UChicago has a reputation for promoting an intellectual environment.

The bias against a school that attracts and produces kids that are academically gifted AND great athletes is ridiculous. One of the Harvard admits that you are discounting scored a 34 on his ACT and maintained a 3.9 GPA, all while earning 8 varsity letters in football and wrestling. That's exactly the kid that Harvard and other top schools are looking for--brilliant, disciplined, and well-rounded.
