But it would be different with a boy? No. It's an inappropriate joke for anyone - boy or girl. |
pathetic reaction |
You don’t teach your child to pee in grass. You can carry a travel potty in your car. We did, and it was a lifesaver for our small children for those times at a playground with a questionable bathroom.
But I would also question their supervision since the adults didn’t notice, the kids did. |
fact is that according to the teachers themselves they did not witness it themselves...so maybe the closest teacher there wasn't that close after all |
I definitely think the punishment is over the top. She is three! And tried to find a teacher before doing it. Is peeing in the grass at three really such a big deal? They are still learning both potty training and social norms.
Don't worry op, all of my friends have done it (in emergencies). Just remind her that she can't do it at school and ask the teachers why they weren't in range for help with a potty break. |
I think punishing her by making her sit alone with a classroom with a teacher *is* shaming. All they had to do was explain the difference between hiking and what to do if she needed the bathroom on the playground. She's only 3. |
This whole situation is off. Go speak to the headmaster/principal/etc. |
You really need to set up a meeting with the director. The peeing is secondary and of little importance. I would want to know why the children were unsupervised long enough for her to not be able to find a teacher, then take off her pants, then pee and put her clothes back on without any teacher in sight. This sounds unsafe and I would be concerned about other regulations they may be violating. |
You win the thread. |
You are insane. We don't have a car, and sometimes walk to a playground that's 30 min away. Playgrounds don't have bathrooms in DC. Therefore - we pee in bushes. |
Poor child. It's not her fault. At that age, when you need to go, you need to go! I would tell her she needs to find an adult and tell them. I would tell the teachers that there should be more playground supervision and ask how many times children are taken to the bathroom. At our Montessori preschool, there were times built in to go to the bathroom to avoid those situations. |
Phpt. A travel potty seems way less clean to me then just peeing in the grass. Or course...urine is sterile so it doesn't really matter. But why would you want to have to deal with a used piece of plastic? Or even buy yet another useless piece of plastics? DOn't you know the ocean is awash in plastic??!! FFS - get over your prudishness and save the whales!!! |
Not acceptable- OP you need to talk to the director. |
+1 |
I don't agree. I think shaming would be "What were you thinking? That's disgusting! I can't believe you did that!" etc. etc. Making the child feel dirty or shaming her for exposing her body. A time out with the teachers/being removed from the area is appropriate. |
