You spend $50/day to exercise? Man, people these days...

A lot of gym memberships include classes. Probably not Barre(tm) or trampo-f&8cking-line, but this is a dp and my gym includes as many spinning, yoga, step, etc classes as you want. You just sign up.

Do either you or her have expectations she will stay "thin" despite having children and getting older?

She is thin and has always been. It wasn't hard for her to lose weight after having a baby.

Can we...can we really not connect these dots, OP?

OMFG honestly.

"My thin wife is always thin even after having a baby so idk why she exercises so much."

You must be chunky. Of course fitness is a perfectly fine interest.

Op here. My wife did not work out until our child turned 1. The weight just fell off. I don't think she works out to stay thin necessarily. She has actually gained a bit of weight since working out regularly.

Newsflash: not all thin people work out. I know tons of moms who are thin and don't work out regularly. The control what they eat.

Yes. It's not common to work out in Europe and most women are thin!

spinning plus 1 class doesn't seem excessive to me. They're both probably in part a way to structure the day and (for the class) be social and get out of the house. if you told me she was also swimming 2 miles, then yeah, that's a lot. but going to the pool could be just for fun and getting out!

Doesn’t sound excessive to me. My wife and I have always given each other whatever space is needed to maintain our health and fitness. It also models responsible behavior for our son.

Aside from that, you should just enjoy the benefits of having a fit wife.

Doesn't sound obsessive to me. I used to work out obsessively. One hour of very focused exercise in the morning, hours of other exercise - walking, jogging, other fitness with kids and then focused exercise in the evening. If we ate dinner out I would exercise when we got back.

By focused I mean using equipment and dvds.I was in an abusive relationship and used it as distraction and something I could control. Like my day was okay if I got 20,000 steps.

What your wife does sounds committed, not obsessive.

I’m curious about this. Do weights help more with weight loss?

Weights gives you muscle tone and recontours your bodymaking you look healthy. Fatloss occurs at the table.

I was the original PP. Yes, weighlifting is better than cardio because when you increase muscle mass, you also up fat burning. On the other hand, cardio can decrease muscle mass if done excessively and there are no muscle gain benefits. People who rely on cardio tend to look skinny fat.

Barre classes use weights.

There are limits of course, but I generally prefer strong to skinny when it comes to women.

As long as she’s eating enough and not doing anything to harm her health then good for her.

Also, who wouldn’t love a fit/sexy/healthy spouse?
