If God had an issue with homosexuality, where is divine intervention?

So the Catholic Church discriminates against the disabled who cannot have traditional sex. Great.

This very same question can be asked about any number of things: genocide, birth defects, diseases, starvation -- I don't know why you'd ask only about this one topic. Let's get real -- God hasn't intervened in human affairs in a long time, like over 2,000 years since Jesus was begat.

Damn, that means alot of straight folks are going to hell...especially alot of so-called Christians. Funny how that works.

The Bible does not instruct us to seek hidden spiritual meanings in everyday life events. While we should be aware that God does intervene, we should not spend every waking minute trying to decode secret messages from above.

Being sinless is not what leads to Christian heaven. The only sinless person was Jesus.

It is amazing how many people just have no idea what Christianity is on the most basic level.

I know, right? But yet here they are, spreading bigotry based on their ignorant understanding. I’m super liberal in politics as well as religion, but a few years on DCUM have made me heartily sick of these clowns.

You all should practice what you preach and then I wouldn't call you out for being hypocrites.

You mean like Catholic priests who sexually abuse children? Apparently, they have no idea what Christianity is on the most basic level.

Way to change direction in another disengenuous way that once again reflects your misunderstanding of theology. Who here said s/he was confident the abusive priests are going to heaven? Nobody at all. “But the Catholic priests!” seems to be the go-to for some posters here, just like “But Hillary and Bill!” is the go-to for Fox readers.

Tell that to Priest’s who molest little boys. Catholic Church is the WORST.

Priests are sinning too. Not a surprise, they are human after all.

Your premise is incorrect as God does not interfere with actions of free will, which explains why serial killers and Hitler managed to exist.

God, in his wisdom and kindness, gave us the gift of free will, so we could, if we so chose, commit terrible acts, like homosexuality, that would consign us to something else he gave us -- eternal hell.

I didn't say that the PP had no right to post here, I asked why they did. In your case, you don't believe in a Judeo-Christian God, but you follow a religion and that religion does have gods, if not a single God. However, whether you believe in a God or gods, you do follow a religion and this Forum is for the discussion of religions.

Since religion is about unwavering Faith in a religious system and a Deity or deities, I'm not sure that the PP's statement above will be agreed to by the majority of the audience. It's like trying to convince birds that they shouldn't fly.

Fascinating. PP, I think that perspective is more about what you are comfortable with than about religion as a bigger topic.

Most religious leaders I have worked with -- and several religious writings -- address crises of faith and doubts as a natural part of the arc of religious beliefs over time. Dealing with that over the course of a life is a part of "religion" in the big sense, too.

Good one! Keeps you from following your doubts. They're normal - they'll bring you right back to the pews and the collection basket.

In other endeavors, doubts can lead to great discovery, but not in religion. Think your spouse is cheating on you? Investigate and determine whether or not to stay married!

Don't understand why an apple always falls to the ground? Investigate and discover gravity.

Not sure if God exists? Investigate and disregard whatever you learn and return to faith.

Have Bill and Hillary been proven to molest children? I hadn't heard about it -- except for that crazy Comet Pizza story

Abusive priests will go to heaven as long as they confess their sins, make a good act of contrition, and say their penance (usually a series of prayers assigned by their confessor, who is also a priest).

This goes for any Catholic. All Catholics can be absolved of their sins this way.
