Agree. As long as they provide a loving and stable home to a child who otherwise doesn’t have a home, I fail to see what’s so bad or questionable.

+1. I have a son and daughter and am thrilled to have one of each. It would have been fine if I had 2 girls or 2 boys but it didn’t work out that way. My son wishes he had a brother and my daughter wishes she had a sister. We do not want more children, but I don’t see anything wrong with what they are doing.

Not sure why this is odd. Lots of people who grew up with only opposite gender siblings wish they had a sibling of the same gender. I've also heard many people express concerns about three kids in a family -- it can lead to one sibling being the "outsider" while the other two are closer. There's of course no way to control any of this, but I can understand why people might think it is better to have things be more "even" with regard to gender or number of kids.

I have a brother and a sister and appreciate very much what they’ve each added to my life. I think it’s awesome that your BIL’s children will get to experience having both. Why is this a bad thing?
