GGW’s Big Development funders are clearly upset that their handpicked county exec candidate did so poorly. It seems that the Big Dev echo chamber now has decided to “lean in” and start unfounded rumors about the winner.

I agree, and this is so mean.
I think Elrich is plump and jolly and handsome. So there.

Lol. Elrich has charisma. I mean, he’s old and overweight but he’s somehow very attractive. He also knows how to engage with people. He listens and he cares. And he has posted some pictures of himself When he was in his teens and early 20s and he was hot.

He still thinks he's hot. I'm patiently waiting for women he's harassed to come forward. He flirts big time. I've heard multiple women call him a "dirty old man" and a "creepy lech." These are women I personally know who've encountered him at fundraisers, galas, other evening events, etc. Honestly, I'm shocked it didn't come out during the campaign.

So what if he’s a flirt? He isn’t married. Flirting is not harassment. It’s not as if he’s saying grab them by the pu$$y. Let the guy have fun, clearly some women are into him. And he’s not creepy, he’s just really intense and cares what people have to say.
He’s not some polished politician with a trophy wife and campaign literature plastered with a perfect nuclear family wife and kids and white picket fence. He’s an interesting guy, talk to him! I like that at his age he will eat and drink and be a human being. We elected him for his brains and vision and strategy, not for being a Choir Boy.

He needs to take a good mile long walk each day so he doesn’t die.

He’s got a treadmill desk in his office. He’s overweight but I don’t know of any chronic health problems.

~Worked with him for 8 years.

Does he use it??

Yes. I mean, you can by overweight and still very physically active. Being overweight is about how much you eat....

What I have gathered from this thread is that Marc Elrich likes food and women. I could not possibly care less. I care about not having the developers keep their stranglehold on the county.

I wouldn't be surprised if OP was Nancy Floreen.

No, she’s meaner than that.

We need more than to just ‘keep the developers at bay’. We need an actual economy with jobs that are well above service industry and landscaping.

She'd be mean about anything that might get her a suitcase full of dirty developer money.

He’s proposing cuts across all of County government. Not just the schools.

Uh...no duh?

My point being *this* cut to schools won't be popular...and the thread is discussing will be make it through the term. I think he really has an uphill battle, and I don't think he'll win much support going this route...especially if it results in larger classes or impacts students.

The reality is there are far more voters who care about the impact on their kids than the impact on unions or ancillary county services. If they can cut $25 mil without increasing class size, then that speaks volumes about mcps "waste."

Interesting how someone in the me schools thread discussing this cut mentioned Elrich is a womanizer.

$22 of the $25 million is carryover. It’s not a big deal. None of these cuts are.

Do you receive emails from mcps? Because they recently circulated details about a study related to class size. They were careful to highlight that we're living in a post-recession world. I suspect they are laying the foundation for larger classes, not smaller. And so it begins...

Well, look at that. Marc Elrich is recruiting tech businesses to bring in high paying jobs! And not to Frederick, either!

But...he's fat! and he's a Communist, obviously! We must keep complaining about him.
