I love a non traditional feast. |
All of it!
It's just me, DH and the kids this year, and everyone unanimously agreed that we don't really like turkey. We're doing a seafood feast with lobster, crab legs, shrimp and sides. I can't wait! |
Same here. No turkey. |
Turkey! I became vegetarian last year and can’t believe it took me so long to realize that other living things don’t need to die for me to get fed. Better for me, better for the animal and the environment too. My blood work has never looked better, in fact my doc called it “textbook perfect.”

Everything except for mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. |
Cranberries. |
Does anyone have the link to the pear/Gouda thread from years back? Might be fun for the newcomers to read the back story |
I think this is the very thread. Page one at 9:02 a.m. Well, the second post at 9:02 a.m. That person posted the following: Turkey. It's always dry to the point of gagging. Also pumpkin pie. Heavy and too sweet. I'd rather have a ripe pear with some smoked gouda and a tiny glass of Frangelico hazelnut cordial, so that's what I'll do. I'm taking them. |
Same. Which means stuffing & pie for me. |
I love the turkey. With gravy. Garlicky potatoes mixed into it. Yum |
Just 6 of us this year so we are skipping green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole, but making sure we have plenty of stuffing. |
STOP IT. ![]() |

Stuffing, I don’t like it and quit eating it a few years ago. Despite my family’s horror at my choice, the world has kept spinning. |
This happened to us one year. Except it was a cabin in North Georgia and it was “curry” (and, yes, I love Indian food and no, the hosts were not from anywhere close to the Subcontinent). I made Thanksgiving dinner when we got home the next day. I believe that a host that is going to do this at least needs to give everyone a warning. I’ll also never forget the first year I was ever away from home on Christmas and my MIL heated one Stouffer’s frozen lasagna for Christmas dinner for eight people. I have never been so homesick. I have learned not to go the In-Laws for important holiday meals. |
