Do they even choose their own clothes for a portrait like this? I would have thought that someone “official” would make all the outfit choices for the sitting.

It’s not like the Smith family portrait where the person making the arrangements says, “Hey, everybody show up in navy and white, okay? See you Saturday!”

I don't know what the link shows (except Kate looking good in several form-fitting dresses). Ok, the memo was to wear medium blue and white/ecru. Meghan's dress looks black to me. At least it's much darker than every other blue in the pic -- enough that it doesn't look to match the color scheme. Cam's dress looks perfectly fine.

Agree. When I first looked at the picture I noticed Kate's face, and the dress just blends in, which is appropriate for a family photo.

Picture what it would like if both Kate and Meghan were wearing navy blue dresses. I think that putting Meghan in navy would have been w-a-y too much blue. The portrait needed a splash of lighter contrast (Meghan's dress).

The Royal family portraits are all like this. There is always a splash of color here, some contrast there.....

Every outfit in that picture was selected to make this portrait work.

+1 I love this picture. Looks nice and each person sticks to their own style without being super matchy matchy.

Funny how everyone is looking off to the side during the relaxed second photo except Charles, William and Meghan. In fact, she is doubled over as if to appear like she's in on the funny off-camera scene with the others but she's peering into the lens. I don't really have a prroblem with her but she does come off as being more crafty than she pretends to be.

Not a fan of the sleeveless dress. Not so much that it’s distracting as much as it’s not seasonally appropriate and doesn’t fit in with the other outfits. But maybe the pics were taken a couple of months ago.

No she's not. Also, this looks like 1/2 of of family photos. Have you ever taken a family photo with children?
