Op, how old are you? Doing less menopur will not fix it. You need to look into adjuvant therapies (additional shit that's not fully proven but may help, because you're in the Hail Mary situation after 12 IVFs, frankly speaking). Some examples of these include: HGH, metformine, prednisone/dexamethasone, antibiotic, clexane, starting stims with Clomid or Femara instead of injections for 5 days, to name a few. You can also look at HLA matches with your husband, and testing immune issues. Out of local doctors only Abbasi is willing to think outside the box. Seriously, dicking around with Menopur dose is kinda ridiculous at this stage of the game, to be blunt. |
| Who’s your doctor at SG? |
|
Dr O'Brien.
I started with Dr. Abbasi. We did the HGH, prednisone/dexamethasone, antibiotic and started stims with Clomid. I even took three months off of work and did accupunture, the whole de-stress routine. Worse cycles with all that stuff. I haven't looked at HLA stuff...I don't think/ I feel like we have been tested for everything. We know we both have MTHFR. I did the testing for immune stuff and nothing came back off. Abbassi put me on pred, IVIG, etc just to try. We transferred 4 terrible looking day 3's that cycle. I was always on 150-300 Follistim and 225-300 Menopur. Over the last 6 cycles my AFC has been higher almost each time, my AMH raised to a steady 0.9 (instead of .6) and my FSH has hovered around 7. My AFC this cycle was 36. Dr. Levy couldn't believe it. I think I have a ton of eggs that are all bad quality. I've had two miscarriages (21, 32 yr) and an ectopic (34) Natually pregnant with one tube at 35. Trying less drugs is honestly probably all I have left to do other than go to Braverman or CCRM. I really appreciate your comments. Hail Mary Mode for sure. I'm just not convinced that there is one good egg in there. Dr. O'Brien agrees. If it helps to know, insurance is paying for everything. |
| OP---that should read I really think there is one good egg left and Dr O'B agrees |
| Are you taking anything for the MTHFR? |
|
Op- 39 years old.
Yes, I m taking methyl care vitamins and my prenatal has quatre folic. |
|
Sounds like you’re covering all your bases. I’m sorry it’s been so difficult for you.
Are you doing assisted hatching? Did you do a sperm DNA fragmentation test? |
| Assisted hatching and did the DNA frag test--nothing came out too startling. One thing was close to borderline but not really anything to do with making a blast. |
|
OP, it's possible that your eggs are done. No matter how many you have, all might be bad. I know it's hard to wrap your head around it, especially looking at the numbers, but consider it one of the possibilities.
That said, 36 eggs is edging into the PSOS territory. Have you been on metformin for any of your cycles? PS: Abbasi doesn't do HGH, as you claimed she does. |
| Have you considered natural cycle IVF? |
|
OP here. I 100% did HGH with Abbasi-Sept 2017. I paid out of pocket for it and it was a dose every morning for a certain amount of time. She 100% prescribed it to me. I just checked my e-amils to make sure I wasn't delusional....$315 a vial.
36 was the AFC count.....not eggs. |
Thanks for the info, it changed then. back in 2015 there was a blanket FDA letter to fertility clinics, mandating not to prescribe HGH off label. 36 is a lot for AFC too. |
| 36 AFC but only counting about 10 follicles growing and over 16 in this cohort with less menopur and less follistim. We are hoping that less drugs with produce better quality....I don't know why they call this a science... |
I also did HGH with Abbasi in fall of 2017. I had asked her previously and she had said no, but then she did change her mind. I was thinking of changing clinics just for that, so I'm glad she was willing to give it a shot. |
